Laura Elford: “We can do better against Boro today”

Last Sunday was the start of a new chapter
for Bradford City WFC; a new team led
by new coaches, all hoping to break new
ground in the coming years.
The result on the day was not the one
they wanted to start this new era with,
the final score reading 2-0 to the visitors,
Derby County.
However, there were plenty of positives.
To say it was the first competitive match
for this set of players, they produced a
good display, while the debut performance
of the new coaching team was
equally impressive.
In a results-based business though, it’s
about getting points on the board and, to
do so, balls in the back of the net.
“It was disappointing not to get the result,”
striker Laura Elford said about the
Derby loss ahead of today’s game with
Middlesbrough.
Reflecting on the performance though,
she was able to pick out plenty of positives.
“We pressed really well and had good
spells going forward at times. We looked
really threatening from set pieces and,
despite the result, we didn’t give a bad
opening performance.”
