Finishing is an art in itself. Sometimes all one needs to do to ‘Finish’<br />

a painting is receive a bit of critique and guidance as to how to<br />

apply specific techniques. Working on newer and older paintings,<br />

you will explore various options/possibilities and tools utilized by<br />

past and contemporary masters in order to bring about certain<br />

desired affects. Glazing, scraping, sanding, and toning are examples<br />

we will utilize to bring about more realized expressions on canvas.<br />

about process, historical content, while experimenting to finish<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir own paintings is an invaluable and conducive step toward<br />

This Intermedi<strong>at</strong>e drawing class will build on your basic drawing<br />

knowledge (see Drawing for <strong>the</strong> True Beginner) and focus on<br />

developing line quality, use of color, shadow and shading,<br />

composition, foreshortening, as well as use of different drawing<br />

m<strong>at</strong>erials including pencil, pen and ink, and scr<strong>at</strong>chboard. Designed<br />

for students who want to improve <strong>the</strong>ir drawing skills, prepare for<br />

painting or w<strong>at</strong>ercolor classes, or develop independent works.<br />

➜ Landscape Oil Painting From Photos<br />

Good photographs are just <strong>the</strong> jumping off point for cre<strong>at</strong>ing<br />

gre<strong>at</strong> landscape paintings. Paint with more dynamic colors by<br />

applying one of <strong>the</strong> three gre<strong>at</strong> color schemes. This course includes<br />

instruction and demonstr<strong>at</strong>ion of cre<strong>at</strong>ing an oil painting from a<br />

photo from start to finish. You will analyze your photo through<br />

drawing, color mixing and completion. You <strong>the</strong>n will cre<strong>at</strong>e<br />

paintings from your own photos, with individual hands on help and<br />

critique from <strong>the</strong> instructor. One class meeting will be a field trip to<br />

take photographs and learn to compose with your camera.<br />
