Ryan Nolan is on the
Knights’ boys golf team.
Who got you into golf?
My dad. My dad was a
huge golfer and started me
early, whenever I could
swing a club. He’s been my
coach and my inspiration to
play.
What’s the best part
about golf?
I just love that it’s a singleplayer
game. You have your
own mistakes. You play your
own way. There’s no one to
blame except yourself.
What’s your favorite
memory on the golf
course?
Definitely going down to
Myrtle Beach with my family.
It was an experience
like no other – just getting
to play those high-quality
courses with my family and
enjoying it with them.
You also play for the
Central baseball team.
Which sport would you
choose between the
two?
I would definitely choose
golf. I find golf more enjoyable
because you could play
it as long as you want. Baseball
will eventually come to
an end.
What’s the best piece of
advice you’ve received
from a golf coach?
Never get angry at yourself.
Getting angry on the
course will cause you to do
worse. Just relax, take a deep
breath, forget about the last
shot and think about the next
one.
What’s the best part
about Lincoln-Way
Central?
I just love the environment.
There’s all these
things you could do. They
just make you feel welcome.
There’s a lot of people there
with open arms that would
allow you to fit in school.
Who’s a professional
athlete you’d like to
meet?
Phil Mickelson. He’s just
an overall good guy in life,

and I just love watching his
game of golf.
What’s your favorite
school subject?
I’m a natural-born math
guy. Math comes easy to me,
and I’m a big fan of history,
as well.
What are you career
aspirations?
I’m going to see how
far golf takes me, or go to
school to be a veterinarian.
Who do you look up to?
Definitely my father. He’s
a great man. He gave me the
perfect life, and I want to
be just like him, raising my
sons just the way he did.
