SEXUAL HARASSMENT
BILL WILL RETURN
By Everton Barnes
Legislation is going to parliament
soon to outlaw sexual harassment in the
Attorney General, the
Hon., Steadroy Benjamin
workplace.
Attorney General, the Hon., Steadroy
Benjamin said another attempt will be
made at the next sitting of the House of
Representatives to introduce the Sexual
Harassment Act to make it a crime to
abuse people at the workplace
“It seeks to protect employees in the
workplace, and sometimes some employers
too, from being sexually harassed. It
will also prevent allegations of from being
made when there is; (a) no grounds
for such allegations and (b) where there
grounds for the report, to take corrective
steps to deal with the problem,” he explained.
The minister said there have been
complaints not just in Antigua and Barbuda
but in other Caribbean territories
that there is a problem with sexual harassment.
He disclosed that the OECS put together
a team to look into the matter and
sub-region.
Benjamin said Antigua and Barbuda
has a tradition of being a leader within
the Caribbean and that why it wants to be
one of the first territories to adopt the bill.
“We want to be leading in presenting
such legislation designed to protect and
The government attempted to have the
first reading of the bill when the House
of Representatives met last Tuesday, but
citing the relevant Standing Order rules,
Opposition Leader, Baldwin Spencer,
said the move was improper and Benjamin
was forced the withdraw the bill and
in collaboration with the CARICOM provide a safe environment in the workplace
wait until the next meeting of the House.
Implementation Agency for Crime and
Security (IMPAS) came up with a draft
bill that is to be adopted throughout the
so that people can work without
threat of being sexually harassed,” he
declared.
This time, he promised there will be
no administrative impediments to the bill
having its first reading.
CCJ President visits St. John’s Pentecostal
President of the Caribbean
Court of Justice (CCJ), Sir Denis
Byron
By Everton Barnes
President of the Caribbean
Court of Justice (CCJ),
Sir Denis Byron, worshiped
Sunday morning with parishioners
at the St John’s
Pentecostal House of Restoration
Ministries.
He used the opportunity
to speak about the court, its
composition and its mandate.
In speaking to the importance
of freedom and human
rights, Sir Dennis says
that the court is the champion
for human rights, justice
and fair-play.
He went on to assure the
congregation that everything
is in place with the CCJ and
that it is comparable, if not
superior, to any other court.
According to Sir Dennis,
the court from the very beginning
has been utilizing
technology so that many
people are able to stay in
their own country and access
the CCJ without having to
travel to Trinidad.
He thanked the leadership
of the church and the
congregation for the invitation
and for the opportunity
to speak.
Sir Denis was in Antigua
for a meeting of the Council
of Legal Education which
was held at the St James’s
Club last week.
Meanwhile, several miles
away, Constitutional expert,
Dr Alexis addressed the
Swetes Wesleyan Holiness
Church and the All Saints
Pentecostal Church. In his
brief address, Dr Alexis
drew biblical parallels to the
situation where Antigua and
Barbuda is now contemplating
delinking from the Judicial
Committee of the Privy
Council (JCPC) and to accede
to the CCJ.
He noted that laws were
first given to man by God
from the creation story in
Genesis to Moses receiving
the Ten Commandments on
Mount Sinai. In reference to
the JCPC, Dr Alexis noted
that during the hundreds of
years of slavery, it remained
silent on the inhumane and
atrocious conditions under
which the Africans were
forced to live.
Dr Alexis will be a panellist
meeting at the Multi-Pur-

A fight has left three Parham siblings
with criminal charges.
The trio appeared before Magistrate
Ngaio Emanuel recently, and were granted
bail.
Charles and Chanella Roberts were allegedly
engaged in a brawl with their brother
Yannick Stephenson on August 22nd.
Stephenson is said to have sustained
wounds in the incident, serious enough for
And Opposition Leader,
Hon. Baldwin Spencer and
Head of the National Coordinating
Committee, Ambassador
Dr. Clarence Henry
who exchanged views this
morning on the way forward
to ensure that all stakeholders
are continuously engaged in
the process.
The meeting, which took
place at the Office of the National
Authorizing Officer
was agreed during Tuesday’s
debate in Parliament on the
Constitutional (Antigua and
Barbuda) Referendum Bill,
2016.
Speaking following the
meeting Ambassador Henry
reaffirmed that “there is
much work” to be done as expressed
during the launch of
the NCC’s website on August
23rd, 2016, while reiterating
that the town-hall meeting
marks a turning point in the
education campaign. “The
meeting will allow members
of the public the opportunity
to have their questions answered
as there is still much
confusion and misunderstanding
surrounding both
institutions,” he noted.
The NCC Chairman said
he is firmly of the view that
as the Committee holds similar
gatherings in different
communities, meeting, listening
and discussing the
issues, that the gulf between
facts and fiction will be narrowed.
“We will seek to clear the
doubts, clarify misconceptions
and bring a greater level
of assurance to the general
public that their opinions are
being heard”, he explained.
According to Amb. Henry,
the emphasis will be
about advancing Antigua
and Barbuda and ensuring
that through education and
knowledge-sharing, the people
can demonstrate their
maturity to advance the society
and the economy. “We
aim to ensure the region and
the world that Antigua and
Barbuda is a country steeped
in strong participatory democracy
as was evident in
this week’s debate in the
House of Representatives.
So on Monday night, down
at Multipurpose, we shall let
the voices and ideas contend.
I encourage all to come and
join the conversation; it’s
good for Antigua and Barbuda.”
he stated.
Stephenson has in the meantime been
slapped with a charge of unlawful wounding,
after he allegedly stabbed his brother
Bail for Charles and Chanella Roberts
was set at $5,000, whilst Stephenson obtained
bail in the principle sum of $3,000.
Sticky-finger teen cries crocodile tears
By Deborah A. Parker
The bitter tears shed by a Bolans
Village youth in District B recently,
were referred to as crocodile tears.
The 18-year old offender appeared
before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel,
charged with break-in, entry and larceny.
At approximately 3 a.m. on August
28th, the youth broke into his cousin’s
house and stole TT$5.
The occupants of the house were reportedly
alerted by a noise, and when
they investigated, the offender was
found hiding under the house.
He was ordered to hand over what
he had stolen, before he ran off.
Incidentally, only recently this said
to the family of
Bernadine Richards Grays
home in a fire.
The gift certificates are
redeemable at both Stephen
B. Shouls and Happy Kids
and will go towards some
of the immediate needs of
the family such as school
uniforms and supplies.
School bags were also donated
through the Mount
St. John’s Medical Centre
grateful to have partners
said cousin.
Since the item was recovered, the
complainant had asked for the matter
to be discontinued.
Although it was only TT$5 that was
stolen, the victim said he would not be
merciful this time around.
“You see he talk bout he crying, is
crocodile tears that. I came here today
because I mean that he must learn a lesson,”
the complainant told the court.
“Is my cousin, and I always tell him
when he needs anything, ask me for it,
don’t steal, but he not listening,” the
complainant stated further.
He added, “He broke into my bus
and stole $50, the same draw he took
the $5 from, he stole $2,000 from it, he
stealing animals from people, he just
like Happy Kids, Stephen
B. Shouls and MSJMC on
board who are helping in a
big way to make this possible”,
said Herald Rolland,
RCAS President.
“This is not the first time
our club has assisted families
in need and when we
were asked to get involved,
terrorising the community.”
The youth, who had to be asked
several times to control his emotions,
was sent to Her Majesty’s Prison for 48
hours.
Magistrate Emanuel in the meantime
told the youth, “You not even
stealing the right money; TT$5 doesn’t
have any value here, so you going jail
for nothing.
“But when you have sticky fingers
you take up everything.”
The teen will return to court for sentencing
on September 29th.
A probation report has been ordered,
and the teen must also write an
essay under the topic ‘Why prison life
is not for me,’ and submit same to the
court.
US flights to Havana in time for Christmas
HAVANA, Cuba – Now that Jet-
Blue has completed the first regularly
scheduled commercial flight between
the United States and Cuba in more
than half a century – landing in the city
of Santa Clara on Wednesday – two
other American airlines have kicked
off the announcements on when flights
will land in Havana.
Delta Airlines and Spirit Airlines
will both begin flying to the Cuban capital
on December 1.
They are the first of the eight airlines
that received approval for routes
to Havana, to announce a start date for
regularly scheduled service.
Spirit Airlines yesterday started
selling tickets for its twice daily nonstop
flights between Fort Lauderdale
and Havana’s José Martí International
“We are excited to be a part of history
with the addition of Havana to our
growing network,” said Mark Kopczak,
Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of
Network Planning.
In addition to the nonstop service,
Spirit plans to provide connecting service
from an additional 20 US cities via
Fort Lauderdale.
From September 10, Havana-bound
travellers will be able to purchase tickets
to fly on Delta, which will offer daily
It said it has been made
aware of a possible third party
employment agency and/or
Spirit Airlines and Delta Airlines will make their first flights into Havana on the same day.
“This December, we look forward
to serving customers with the excellent
customer service and operational
performance they expect from Delta
while reuniting families and supporting
a new generation of travellers seeking
to engage and explore this unique destination,”
said Nicolas Ferri, Delta’s
Vice President, Latin America and the
Alaska Airlines, American Airlines,
Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Jet
and United Airlines had been given
the green light to operate Havana
flights. Under a new air services agreement,
a total of 20 daily routes between
the US and Cuba’s capital have been
awarded to the airlines.
The routes are subject to Cuban regulatory
approval.
Americans can travel to Cuba only
if their trip falls within one of 12 designated
categories, including family
visits, educational activities, religious
activities, humanitarian projects, professional
research and professional
Sandals Resorts warns of imposters
individuals professing to represent
the company in human
In a statement issued this
week, it reminded the public
that all human resource matters,
including the hiring of
by human resources teams attached
to each resort.
“No organization or individual
is authorized to act on
Monday 5th September 2016
Thousands flood streets of Venezuela’s
capital in biggest protest in decades
CARACAS, Venezuela – Opponents
of Venezuelan President Nicolas
Maduro claimed to have mobilized
a million demonstrators in the biggest
rally in decades, vowing weekly mass
protests to demand a referendum on
ousting him from power.
Police deployed in their hundreds
to keep anti-government protesters
angry at food and medicine shortages
apart from Maduro’s supporters, who
vowed to defend his “socialist revolution.”
The rallies raised fears of violence
in the oil-rich South American state,
where anti-government protests in
2014 led to clashes with police that
left 43 people dead.
The leader of the opposition Democratic
Unity Roundtable, Jesus Torrealba,
told AFP it was the “biggest
rally in recent decades” with “between
950,000 and 1.1 million people”
taking part.
“We either come out to march or
we will die of hunger.
“We are no longer afraid of the
government,” said one demonstrator,
Ana Gonzalez, 53.
The rallies come at a highly volatile
time for Venezuela, where a
plunge in prices for oil exports has
led to shortages, violent crime and
outbreaks of looting.
“This is a historic march. Today
begins a definitive stage in this struggle,”
Torrealba said.
Thousands of Maduro supporters
in red T-shirts and caps meanwhile
rallied in the central Plaza Bolivar
yelling to their leader: “The people
are with you.”
Maduro estimated his supporters’
turnout at up to 30,000.
“Today we have defeated a coup
d’etat,” he told the crowd. “They
have failed once again. The victory is
ours.”
The opposition blames Maduro for
the economic crisis and wants a referendum
on removing him from power.
He has branded the effort a right-wing
“coup.”
“We are here at the call of our
president, to defend the revolution,”
said 37-year-old housewife Carolina
Aponte at the pro-government rally.
The authorities arrested three opposition
leaders in the days ahead of
the march. Senior opposition figure
Henrique Capriles said on Thursday
that two mayors had also been arrested.
Thursday’s marches remained
mostly peaceful, finishing in the
mid-afternoon, but isolated clashes
between demonstrators and security
officers did occur, with some violent
incidents reported in other cities.
After the protest, state security
agents fired tear gas against protestors
who tried to block the main highway
of the city after a group of masked
men threw stones at some officers.
Opposition leaders and human
rights organizations also reported outbreaks
of violence in Maracay and
San Cristobal.
The MUD said in a statement it
would hold two further nationwide
demonstrations: at electoral offices on
September 7, and a “national mobilization
day” on September 14.
The referendum’s timing lies at the
heart of the battle.
If it takes place before January 10
and Maduro loses, new elections must
be held. If he loses in a recall after
that date, he would simply hand power
to his hand-picked vice president.
Maduro said Thursday he had prepared
a decree to strip lawmakers in
the National Assembly of their immunity.
He accused the opposition
speaker of the legislature, Henry Ramos
Allup, of inciting violence. (Digital
Cayman Islands
added to Italy’s
“Whitelist”
GEORGE TOWN, Cayman
Islands – The Cayman
Islands has been added to
Italy’s so-called whitelist
of countries with good tax
governance, giving the
country’s financial services
industry a boost.
Cayman Finance, the
private sector organization
that represents the financial
services industry, says the
development will, among
other things, allow Cayman
Islands funds to invest
in Italian securities such as
bonds and securitization instruments
and receive interest
payments gross of withholding
tax.
Chief executive officer
of Cayman Finance, Jude
Scott, said Cayman funds
will also be able to benefit
from full exemption from
Italian tax on profits attributable
to them where they
own more than five per cent
of an Italian Real Estate Investment
Fund.
He said this decision was
a positive step forward for
Cayman’s financial services
industry in Europe, particularly
on the heels of the European
Securities and Markets
Authority’s (ESMA)
recent deferral of its recommendation
on the Cayman
Islands’ application for
the Alternative Investment
Fund Managers Directive
(AIFMD) passport.
“We are optimistic that
the pending legislation for
the Cayman Islands AIFMD
regime will be in place late
2016/early 2017,” Scott
said. “Once the remaining
legislation is enacted, we see
no impediments hindering
Cayman’s AIFMD passport
application. The creation of
this regime will offer wider
opportunities for Cayman
domiciled funds and managers
in Europe.”
“The inclusion of the
Cayman Islands on Italy’s
whitelist echoes to the global
financial services industry
its recognition of our robust
framework to combat corruption,
money-laundering
and tax evasion but as importantly,
Cayman’s commitment
to comply with
international standards of
transparency and exchange
of information,” Scott added.
He added that Cayman’s
funds industry could play an
increasingly important role
in providing liquidity and
credit to Italian businesses,
to help offset the challenges
faced by Italian banks as
a result of the recent global
credit crises.
“Cayman funds have
played this role with other
Chief executive officer of Cayman Finance, Jude Scott, says being
on the whitelist will allow Cayman Islands funds to invest in Italian
securities.
major economies,” he said.
“As a premier global financial
hub and allocator of
global capital and financing,
Cayman provides a cost effective,
neutral platform to
allow international investment
to be made into economies
that need that investment,
while at the same time
giving pension funds and
other international institutional
investors an opportunity
to invest in a diversified
portfolio of securities.
“The Cayman Islands
enables parties from around
the world who are domiciled
in countries that may have
differing laws, regulations,
tax structures and customs
to benefit from doing business
with each other using
Cayman as an efficient and
effective global financial
hub.
“This inward investment
from Cayman will ultimately
help stimulate economic
activity, create much needed
jobs and generate taxable
revenue in Italy,” he added.
Scott said if Cayman is
granted the AIFMD passport,
Italian resident investors
and pension funds
would be able to invest in
Cayman domiciled structures,
including many of the
world’s best alternative investment
structures.
The Cayman Islands
signed a Tax Information
Exchange Agreement with
Italy on December 3, 2012.
It came into force on August
13 last year.
To date, the Cayman
Islands has signed 36 tax
information exchange
agreements, two inter-governmental
agreements with
the United States and the
United Kingdom, and more
recently a multilateral competent
authority agreement
to implement the OECD
Standard for Automatic Exchange
of Financial Account
Standard to improve
New Alzheimer’s treatment discovered
NEW YORK, United
States – An experimental
Alzheimer’s drug may have
brought researchers one step
closer to preventing the disease
altogether.
The new drug targets,
then destroys and removes
amyloid plaques, toxic proteins
that clump together and
build up in the brain. Most
aging brains have these
buildups, but not nearly at
the level linked to early-onset
Alzheimer’s.
Massachusetts-based
pharmaceutical company
Biogen developed the drug,
aducanumab, and funded the
study. The results were published
Wednesday in Nature.
Though researchers remain
“cautiously optimistic”
due to the small trial size,
neurologist and study co-author
Stephen Salloway told
the magazine: “This is the
best news we’ve had in 25
years of doing Alzheimer’s
research.”
One hundred sixty-five
people with mild to moderate
Alzheimer’s participated
The new drug targets, then destroys and removes amyloid plaques, toxic proteins that clump together
and build up in the brain.
a monthly intravenous dose
of either aducanumab or a
placebo. Over the course of
a year, 103 patients received
varying doses of the drug.
PET scans revealed that
those who received the highest
dose showed the largest
degree of reduction. Scans
of the 40 placebo patients
were largely unchanged.
“We are pretty certain
of the fact that the antibody
reduces the amyloid plaques
and in some ways gets rid
of the majority of it,” Alfred
Sandrock, senior author of
the paper, told Time.
Researchers said patients
also exhibited slower rates
of cognitive decline.
The drug does have some
side effects, including brain
swelling. But Salloway,
who’s a professor of neurology
and psychiatry at Brown
University, told Time that
regular brain scans could
monitor swelling and prompt
treatment when necessary.
“Compared to other studies
published in the past, the
effect size of this drug is unprecedented,”
Roger Nitsch,
one of the paper’s researchers
and a professor at Zurich
University, told The Independent.
If the results are confirmed,
experts say aducanumab
could be a major
“game-changer” in the
prevention of Alzheimer’s.
Larger trials are planned
through 2020. (New York
Samsung issues Galaxy Note 7
recall over exploding batteries
SEOUL, South Korea –
Samsung is recalling millions
of new Galaxy Note
7 smartphones worldwide
after reports that the devices
can catch fire while
charging.
The massive recall of
one of Samsung’s flagship
devices is an embarrassing
setback for the world’s
biggest selling smartphone
maker. The Note 7 was unveiled
just a month ago,
and big rival Apple is expected
to show off its new
smartphone next week.
Samsung said today it
had found a problem with
the battery in some of the
phones and was halting
sales in 10 countries, including
South Korea and
the US. It will offer customers
a new product for
free in the coming weeks to
replace the 2.5 million Galaxy
Note 7s that have been
sold.
“As of September 1,
there have been 35 cases
that have been reported
globally and we are currently
conducting a thorough
inspection with our
suppliers to identify possible
affected batteries in the
market.
“However, because our
customers’ safety is an absolute
priority at Samsung,
we have stopped sales of
the Galaxy Note7,” it said
in a statement.
Samsung said devices
in China don’t appear to be
affected because it used another
battery supplier. But
it was unclear if models
sold in China would nonetheless
be recalled.
The giant South Korean
company originally
said it would take about
two weeks to prepare the
recall, but later announced
Note 7 users in the U.S. can
exchange their device for a
Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7
Edge, starting next week.
It will also refund the cost
of Note 7-specific accessories.
Samsung is giving
Note 7 users a $25 gift card
or bill credit for the inconvenience.
More details about how
the recall programme will
work will be announced
shortly, the company said.
At a news conference,
company executives declined
to comment on exactly
how much replacing
all the devices would cost.
“It is a big amount that
is heartbreaking,” said
Koh Dong-jin, president of
Samsung’s mobile communications
business.
Samsung had the biggest
share (22%) of the
global smartphone market
in the three-month period
ending June 30, according
to research firm IDC. By
comparison, Apple held
12%.
Samsung benefited from
the popularity of the Galaxy
S7, IDC said, and the
Galaxy Note 7 was expected
to keep that momentum
going into the second half
of the year.
The phone was well received
by reviewers, drawing
attention for several
unique features such as an
iris scanner, which allows
users to unlock the phone
with their eyes. (CNN
8 teams to contest
Rural West Invitational
By Vanroy Burnes
Eight (8) will contest the rural west Invitational pre-season
football tournament which kicks off on Monday, 5th September.
Coordinator of the event Freeston Ireland said the tournament
will serve as warm-up or preparation for the ABFA
2016/17 which is expected to kick off at the end of the month.
The eight teams taking part includes two Premier Division
teams in Cool & Smooth Empire and newly promoted Harney
Motors Tryum, four first division teams in Fort Road, Villa
Lions, Potters Tigers and Otto’s Rangers, while the second
division teams includes St. John’s United and Police.
Coordinator Ireland said the idea was to have a rural west
cup to include all the teams in that area such as Empire, Hoppers,
Five Islands, Lion Hill Golden Grove, Hatton Stars, Hill
Top and Tryum, but most of them pulled out citing different
reasons, thus it was diverted to an invitational tournament.
In the first set of matches, Fort Road will play Potters Tigers
at Radio Range on Monday at 4.20 p.m., while Empire
will come up against St. John’s United at King George at the
same time.
“Rising Star” Jasmine Deyal, gets University
of Trinidad and Tobago scholarship
There are those who have
passed through the halls of institutions,
schools, organizations
and clubs and have never
looked back to say “Thank
You.” Not even the parents.
Kindness is not about expecting
anything in return, but the
appreciation for any kindness
is most encouraging.
The Deyals have been
showing appreciation and
support with their children’s
social, academic and sporting
development during school
and after graduation: Zubin,
highly ranked cricketer of
SJA and nationally, and Jasmine,
a talented all-round
athlete.
Hard work and enthusiasm
By Vanroy Burnes
President of the Antigua & Barbuda
Athletics Association (ABAAA) Mr.
Everton “Mano” Cornelius said school
sports should act as a feeder system for
all the various sporting national disciplines
in this country.
Cornelius said so on his renewed call
for more input into the planning and running
of the Coca Cola Schools Track &
Field Championships, Cornelius himself
a former national athlete made the call
two years ago also noted that schools
sports in general should manage by a
board.
According to the athletics boss, putting
a board in place which of course will
have an organizing committee which will
deal with schools sports primarily and
this could in clues the Ministry of Sports
and the Athletics Association and any
(2013 - 2014) and national
swimmer, has been awarded
a Sports Scholarship (Swimming)
by the University of
Trinidad and Tobago (UTT).
Jasmine, dubbed a “Rising
Star” in national athletics in
Antigua and Barbuda, left for
Trinidad after writing CSEC
in 2014 and then attended the
College of Science, Technology
and Applied Arts of Trinidad
and Tobago where she
earned an Associate Degree
in Journalism and Mass Communication.
The Scholarship, which includes
housing, transport and
a stipend, allows Jas-mine to
study for a Bachelor’s Degree
in Sports Management
while attempting to fulfill her
enormous potential in swimming,
athletics (especially as
a long-distance runner), basketball
and volleyball.
UTT’s swim coach is Paul
Newallo, a national champion,
who represented Trinidad
and Tobago in the 100m and
200m breaststroke events at
the 1984 Olympics in Los
Angeles, California, USA.
Daren Ganga, former West
Indies and Trinidad & Tobago
Cricket Captain is the Senior
Manager, Sports and Recreation,
at UTT.
Jasmine expressed her
interest in Sports Management
after joining the Wings
Sports Club in 2011, in Track
& Field, then Basketball and
Volleyball and participated
in the Sports Injuries Assessment
and Kinesiology Workshops
in 2014, conducted by
Strength & Fitness Expert,
other body that needs to be involved to
make it more viable.
Schools Sports should be the breeding
ground for our athletes because that’s
where it all starts in the schools from
Kinder Garden, Primary and coming all
the up to the Secondary schools, so we
definitely needed to pay more attention to
our schools sports.
In more athletics news, a decision on
the planned upgrade of the country’s lone
track facility YASCO Sports complex in
the making. President of the athletics association
Everton Cornelius is set to meet
with International track builder sometime
in the coming weeks on the way forward
for the track.
Cornelius said he will be meeting with
a German track builder to have a look at
YASCO since there has been an out- cry
for the sport state of the track. He noted
Brian Justin of the University
of the Fraser Valley, BC, Canada.
Jasmine sent her thanks
to Coaches Edith Clashing of
WAR and Lucaso Brumant,
and the Wings Sports Club,
and her gratitude to the people
of Antigua and Barbuda,
especially her friends in
the Wadadli Aquatic Racers
Club. She also congratulated
her WAR friends and all the
other athletes who made it to
the recent Rio Olympics.
She said, “Representing
Antigua and Barbuda was
the highlight of my sporting
career so far. I want to contribute
more than just being
an athlete. I enjoyed coaching
and teaching children and
want to become a professional
sports manager.”
Cornelius: Schools sports should act as feeder system
that while in Rio for the 2016 Olympics
there was some discussions with members
of PASO who try to explain to him
that the radius of the track should pose no
problem.
He said the German track builder will
get on to person in the IAAF and then get
back him because he is not a 100% sure
PASO information is correct and so the
second opinion is needed.
The YASCO track is not being recognize
by the world governing body
for athletics “IAAF” so our athletes any
times ran on it will not be recognize since
it is uncertified. Cornelius said the IAAF
is trying to standardizing all the tracks,
but there may be some confusion. We are
trying to get YASCO up to international
standard. The Government had pledge its
support for the project after so many concerns
were raised time and time again.

the planned renovations of the
ARG for a year and that work
will commence immediately
after the 2017 Carnival celebrations.
The meeting between the
two parties was also centered
around the least arrangement
the FA currently holds for the
facility, but a final decision
was not made. However in
