IMPACT<br />
Following the first round of trainings, half of the women participants who ran<br />
for office won seats in the local 2013 elections. Almost all of these seats had<br />
previously been held by men. Women won positions as Municipal Councilors,<br />
Aldermen, Mayors, Chairmen, and Executive Committee members, focusing on<br />
sanitation and community infrastructure. After the training, the program keeps<br />
in touch with all its participants, offering other specific trainings and a support<br />
network that include activists and young people. The Network has also offered<br />
technical assistance to women candidates vying for national party leadership.<br />
Since the training began, an unprecedented number of women from all four<br />
national parties have run for leadership positions.<br />
