EXECUTIVE BOARD THE NEW CICM EXECUTIVE BOARD Introducing the recently elected Executive Board of Trustees “As Chair, my key aims are to ensure that the CICM continues to grow profitably, to support membership initiatives with colleges and apprenticeships and to attract long-serving credit professionals; to ensure we always listen and feedback from the members. I joined the CICM in 1983, became a Fellow in 1990, member of the Advisory Council since 2010, and elected to the Executive Board in 2012 – serving as Vice Chair before being elected Chair this year.” Laurie Beagle FCICM – Chair “This is my first time on the Board and I am a little surprised, but incredibly proud to have been elected. As a working credit manager I believe I will bridge the gap between members and the Board, and be able to bring 20 years of day-to-day experience. My aim is to help drive the CICM forward. We have the opportunity to help this new government develop a credit policy for the UK. It will also be our role to implement the outcome of the recent survey.” Pete Whitmore FCICM – Vice Chair “It’s an honour and a challenge to serve as CICM Treasurer for the coming two years, my fourth term on the Advisory Council and third on the Executive Board. I have been a CICM member for almost 30 years and during my tenure I have witnessed many positive changes and progress for the Institute and, generally, the credit profession, and I hope this can be both maintained and accelerated.” David Thornley FCICM(Grad) – Treasurer “I’ve worked with the CICM for many years, becoming a Fellow in 2000. The CICM should always be the best it possibly can be, and I want to ensure it always is. I bring energy, enthusiasm and a genuine passion for credit management to the Board, while also providing valuable experience as a real practitioner. I hope to continue to raise the CICM’s profile across UK businesses Sue Chapple FCICM “As a CICM member since 1976, I have served on the Advisory Council for many years, twice held the CICM Chairman position – 1999- 2000 and 2012-2013, remain Chair of the CICM Technical Committee, and serve on the Education Committee. I’m also President of FECMA, enabling me to update the CICM on developments within Europe. Common sense is the bedrock of credit management and, as a no frills Yorkshireman, ‘spades is shovels’ is sometimes a required approach in the more heated debates.” Glen Bullivant FCICM “As the only lawyer on the Advisory Council and Executive Board, my legal knowledge proved useful during the Chartered process, and I also teach elements of the CICM’s legal courses.
