Remarks by H.E. Wang Xianmin, Ambassador of the People’s
Republic of China at the Reception in Celebration of the 67 th
Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China
Good evening! I would
like to thank you all on behalf
of the Chinese Embassy for
joining us to celebrate the 67 th
Anniversary of the founding
of the People’s Republic of
China.
67 years is a small chapter
of the 5000 year history
of China. During the past 67
years, especially since 1978
in which the Chinese government
adopted the Reform and
Opening-up Policy, profound
changes have taken place in
China. The living standard of
the Chinese people has been
greatly improved. China has
successfully transformed
from a under developed country
which could barely feed us
to one of the major economy
in the world. We have accomplished
just in a few decades
what has taken other countries
several hundred years to
achieve.
In spite of serious internal
and external challenges,
the economy in China still
maintains medium-to-high
growth due to the innovation
and reform in recent years.
The GDP of China targeted
nearly 10.9 trillion US dollars
in 2015. The first half of 2016
witnessed a growth rate of 6.5
percent of China’s economy.
China contributes 25% of the
world economic growth. In
short, China is still a engine
for the world’s economic development.
Chinese President Xi Jinping
once said, “The people’s
wish for a good life is our
goal.” . China will continue
to accelerate the shift of the
economic growth model and
adjustment of the economic
structure, vigorously protect
and improve people’s livelihood,
and maintain stable
and relatively fast economic
growth and social harmony
and stability.
Ladies and gentlemen,
China takes part in international
affairs in a fair,
responsible and cooperative
manner and jointly responds
to various global challenges
with other countries. Now the
whole world is trying to find a
proper way to the sustainable
economic development, China
is playing its own role and
making its own contribution.
Early this month, as the
hosting country, China spent
great time and effort on making
G20 summit in Hangzhou
a successful one. This Summit,
which was held when the
world economic growth and
the transformation of the G20
reached a crucial juncture,
was closely followed by the
international community. We
can see that all parties have
pinned their high hopes on
it. China met these expectations
by organizing all parties
to discuss world economic
by growth and cooperation
