Celebrating 70th Wedding Anniversary
Swaffham residents Bernard and Betty Nye
celebrated their Platinum Wedding Anniversary, 70
years of happy marriage on 21st September, 2016.
Mr. and Mrs. Nye celebrated with an informal party
with friends and family, at their home in Haspalls
Road , Swaffham, where they have lived for 20 years.
Betty and Bernard were both in the Royal Navy when
they met, and were married in Bridport, Dorset in
1946. They had two sons, Alan and Eric, in 1948 and
1953. Bernard served in the Royal Navy for 22 years,
and from 1959 to 1963 the family lived in Singapore.
After Bernard retired from the Navy they lived
near Bristol, and have since lived in Yorkshire and
Lancashire before they finally moved to Swaffham in
1996 to be near to their son Eric, who also lives in
the town. Their older son Alan, who died last year
at the age of 67, lived in Australia, then in Indonesia,
and Bernard and Betty now have 6 grandchildren
and 4 great-grandchildren living in Jakarta.

Celebrating
NNAB Street Collection
A street collection held on behalf of the Norfolk
and Norwich Association for the Blind was held in
Swaffham on the 20th Aug.Thanks to the support of
residents and visitors to the town, £164.95 was raised.
This was much appreciated by the NNAB.
