Swaffham History Group<br />
The Group has recently published another booklet<br />
on the history of law and order in Swaffham from<br />
medieval times through to the 1900s. This is a oneoff<br />
publication, compiled and written by member<br />
Barry Ellis, who has researched extensively including<br />
newspaper articles from the 1700s (using the<br />
vocabular of the day and unabridged.)<br />

“Crime, Punishment and Local Justice” is now<br />
available at the museum and would make an<br />
excellent Christmas present for anyone interested in<br />
the history of the town.<br />
Inside the back cover of this are small representations<br />
of all 19 booklets already published by the Group,<br />
and the Book of Swaffham which was written by the<br />
Group for the Museum. All the publications shown<br />
are also still available in the museum shop.<br />
Our next meeting is on Monday 10th <strong>October</strong> and<br />
we still welcome new members<br />

dedicated people with a range of skills, so you could be just<br />
the person we are looking for! We especially need people<br />

have an aptitude for helping with support groups. We can<br />
provide appropriate training in the most suitable role for you<br />
and would really appreciate any time you are able to give.<br />
