Deacon Charles W. Lewis &
Sister Garnetta Lewis (cont'd)
Deacon Lewis was a faithful
deacon and Sunday School
teacher at Antioch for years.
He was such an excellent
teacher, that he made you
want to study the Bible. He
knew about all the locations,
countries, and cities that were
in the Sunday School lessons.
Deacon Lewis didn?t let
anything go lacking or short
when it came to the church.
I f something was needed and
the church couldn?t raise the
money (whatever the reason),
Deacon Lewis would put in
his own money and many
times it was more than ?Table
Money?.

I remember when Deacon
Lewis was the #1 deacon at
Antioch and Deacon Tommy
Burchfield was the #2
deacon. These men were
consistent in their
ways and they took
care of their
families.
Deacon Lewis was a
first-rate record
keeper. He was
always prepared for
Council Meeting.
I f you needed help
financially, Deacon
Lewis would come to
your rescue. He?d do
it for anybody.
I discovered that he
even cashed checks
for the Saints on a fixed
income ? Deacon had the
money right in his inside
j acket pocket. I never saw
anything like it and haven?t
since.

Mother Hazel Lindsay
Pastor Hazel Lindsay had
baking classes with the youth
who were interested.
I attended the classes but,
never really got the hang of
mixing that pound cake
together.
She let me stand to the side
and watch her. I got to taste
the results. I had an
awesome time.
She didn't stand for any
foolishness. She would
discipline me j ust like my
own Mother.
Shirley Wilson Staples
Mother Hazel Lindsay
exemplified faith.
She was a legend in
preaching and a true
nurturer.
Mother taught the word and
expected you to know the
word.
She instilled in me the love
that I have now for this great
Church.
