EDITOR'S NOTE The 100th Annual Convention hosted by Pastor Joseph Sutton and the members of Antioch F.B.H. Church in Cincinnati is the inaugural event of the year long Centennial Celebration of the Ohio Districts. I am elated to be a part of this historical occasion. This publication celebrates some of the greatest people in the Fire Baptized Holiness Church. We acknowledge and applaud these individuals for their contributions to us and to the church. They are the making of us. Compiling this magazine was sheer pleasure. Reading the 100th Annual Convention Northeast Ohio / Southwest Ohio October 16 - 19, 2014 comments and listening to the stories of the contributors was reminiscent of the stories my grandmother, Evangelist C.M. Morgan, used to tell me. As I listened to her, I tried to envision myself in the scene.... She talked about a time when the biggest service in the convention was on Sunday night; when Council Meetings went on until the wee hours of the night; men with peg legs kept time on wooden floors, the Saints danced down to the church from the streetcars and picked up hot coals from the fire in the stove..... As you read the stories and the comments, try to imagine yourself in the scene. Enjoy the shared experiences, memories, and appreciation for the People of the Ohios. Take note of the history tidbits concerning those who served as district officers, Ruling Elders, and Bishops on the Northeast and Southwest Ohio districts. Thank you to every one that helped to make this magazine a reality: readers and contributors, our Presiding Prelate, Bishop A.L.Rodgers, our Ruling Elders, Elder A.B. THE ENCOMIUM The Fabric of Us..... - "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. " Ephesians 2:10 Celebrating the People of the Ohios Past and Present.... - "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Jeremiah 29:11 God created everything and He has a purpose for everything. God moved according to His purpose in 1915 as the Northeast Ohio and the Southwest Ohio districts came together for their 1st Annual District Convention 99 years ago. Many people have traversed these Ohio Districts. Some have left the church, moved to other districts, started their own work, and some have gone on to be with the Lord. The goal of this magazine is to celebrate the lives and the work of those who embody the Ohios. They are the Fabric of Us. The fabric is rich and beautiful. The things we observe and learn from the People of the Ohios (past and present) are woven into us. They help to shape what we are and what we will become. The influence of their lives affects us individually and collectively as the Ohio Districts. We must hold to what we've learned and strive to emulate their good qualities. As you read through the comments concerning the People of the Ohios look for the consistent reference to the following attributes: 1. Love - for God, His people, and this church 2.Faithfulness - dedication and reliability 3.Endurance - perseverance & patience 4.Long-suffering - includes getting along with difficult people, uncomplaining. 5.Sacrifice - time, talent, and finances We are extremely grateful to celebrate this magnificent milestone. We cherish the people, the teaching, and the memories of yesteryear. The Ohios may not have as many people (on a whole) as in times past, but God has plans for us. Keep the Faith!
