Mr. S. K. L. Obeyesekere<br />

Since Privatization of Plantations and the formation<br />

of Regional Plantation Companies Mr. Obeyesekere<br />

has been functioning as the Chief Executive Officer of<br />

Madulsima Plantations & Balangoda Plantations PLC.<br />

He is a Fellow of the National Institute of Plantation<br />

Management in Sri Lanka and counts over 42 years<br />

experience in the Industry having commenced his career<br />

as a Management Trainee and then rising to the position<br />

of Chief Executive Officer.<br />

Mr. Obeyesekere was the Chairman of the Ceylon<br />

Planters’ Association and the Plantation Employers’<br />

Services Group of the Employers Federation of Ceylon.<br />

He serves as an elected member of the Ceylon<br />

Rubber Traders’ Association & the Ceylon Tea Traders<br />

Association and also a nominated member of the Council<br />

of the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon. He is a member<br />

of the National Labour Advisory Council (NLAC) and<br />

the Consultative Committee on Research of the Tea<br />

Research Institute of Sri Lanka and a Board Member of<br />

Madulsima Plantations PLC & Balangoda Plantations PLC.<br />

Mr. H. M. Goonetileke<br />

Mr. Goonetileke has just completed 51 years in the<br />

Plantation Industry.<br />

He is currently the Secretary General of the Planters’<br />

Association of Ceylon, which position he has held<br />

since 2002 and in which capacity he serves on<br />

several National and Industry Boards and Committees,<br />

representing the Association and its membership.<br />

Prior to that, he was the Managing Director of a BOI<br />

Company manufacturing bulk packaging for Tea and<br />

thereafter, the Director, Plantation Management Monitoring<br />

Division of the Ministry of Plantation Industries.<br />

Having Commenced his planting career in Sri Lanka<br />

and rapidly moving up the ranks to become a Senior<br />

Manager and Visiting Agent, he was invited by the<br />

Commonwealth Development Corporation to undertake a<br />

pioneering Tea project in East Malaysia where he worked<br />

as General Manager for 9 years until its fruition.<br />

He is a Fellow of the National Institute of Plantation<br />

Management.<br />
