capital city of Mizoram is 112 years old. It<br />
has been the capital since 1987, the year<br />
Mizoram was designated a state. It is<br />
believed that Mizos settled here from<br />
China around 300 years ago. They were<br />
followed by a succession of tribal chiefs<br />
and kings. With the advent of British<br />
rule came the missionaries who<br />
converted large swathes of the<br />
population to Christianity.<br />
The economy is mostly agrarian in<br />
nature. But with the advent of tourism,<br />
the manufacture and sale of local, handcrafted<br />
products has also taken off.<br />
Located at a height of more than 1,000 m,<br />
the hill city is well-connected by air and<br />
