FAWPL Preview: Sunday 6 November
Two league, two Plate and three Cup games
make up the FAWPL North agenda this week.
Sticking with league matters, two of last
week’s most impressive sides face off in the
North East.
Newcastle United and Stoke City caused the
big upsets last Sunday, and they will look to
pick up where they left off today.
With Nottingham Forest not in league action,
even a point will take Newcastle off the
bottom, while a draw suits Stoke nicely too —
who would climb three places, to fourth.
The other league encounter is similarly
exciting, as second placed Middlesbrough
welcome third-placed Fylde.
Despite their lofty positions, neither are in
great form recently and will look to put their
inconsistencies behind them to close the gap
on still unbeaten leaders, Blackburn Rovers.
Moving onto the cup and sticking with the
table-toppers, Rovers take on Loughborough
Foxes this afternoon, who were relegated
from the third tier last season.
The Foxes are flying in the Midlands Division
One and will go into this game full of
confidence, even if they are the underdogs.
Derby County and West Bromwich Albion are
also huge favourites in their cup games, as
they too face lower league opposition.

If any, West Brom look the most likely to be
upset, the out-of-sorts Northern champions
facing a Wolves side who have lost just one
league game all season.
Derby’s opponents, Chester le Street Town,
are sixth in the Northern Division One.
Finally, the other Plate game away from
Eccleshill United today sees Leicester up
against Chorley, who have lost only once in
Northern Division One this season.
