Pete’s London to
Brighton Cycle!
DBUK supporter Pete, cycled
from London to Brighton,
that’s 54 miles, with 4,000
other cyclists raising a
fantastic £270 for DBUK!
Why did you choose to
fundraise for Deafblind UK?
“It's a great cause and my
dear grandmother lived a very
significant part of her long life
with limited hearing and sight,
so I know what a challenge
that can be.”
Why did you choose to take
part in the London to
Brighton bike ride?
“I've never done a long bike
ride before and in a moment
of madness it seemed like a
good idea. On paper it didn't
look that hard!”
What was the most
rewarding part of your
London to Brighton bike
ride?
“I love the comradery of being
amongst loads of other
amateur cyclists who were all
just out to have fun and raise
money for great causes. The
most rewarding part was
riding the last mile to the
finish line and being clapped
by loads of supporters.”
Do you have any anecdotes
from the day?
“The funniest bit (although it
wasn't at the time!) was
getting lost between the tube
station and the start line. We
managed to do an extra 3-4
miles before we even started.
I tried to kid myself that it was
all part of the warm ups like
the professionals probably do!”
