Bury St. Edmunds alt-rock quartet
Fortunato are back in a big way.
Following the release of their
recent single ‘Angel’, Jack caught
up with them to discuss their new
direction, future endeavours and
the importance of settling in.
You’ve undergone some lineup
changes in recent times. How has
this affected the sounds of the
band in your eyes?
“We’ve been the same group of
people for over a year now so we’re
very much settled in, sonically we
work together really well - our
collective influences blend as a
band and I think that’s where our
sound really comes into its own.”
‘Angel’ is characteristically
Fortunato, but with a heavier
influence lurking into the sound.
Was that a conscious decision, and
what influenced this?
“Angel started off quite downtempo
and it didn’t necessarily
feel natural to us. That’s where it
developed into an angsty song -
through our desire to just be loud
again. We still played around with it
dynamically which is something we
try to implement into a lot of our
songs to evoke emotion.”
It’s always great to hear new music
from you. When’s the next taste
coming? What’s the long term plan
(Album, EP)?
“We’re probably going to bring out
a string of singles. We’ve kept a
lot of things on the down-low over
the past few months, hence the
spontaneity behind the release of
‘Angel’. We’ve got some ideas in
the works but we’ve never been a
band that wants to rush anything
through.”
