Magic<br />

This unique <strong>program</strong> is designed by Eric<br />

Leclerc, two time magic champion and<br />

star of YTV’s “Tricked”, and delivered by<br />

his team of professional magicians and<br />

entertainers. Have a blast and be blown<br />

away while developing self-confidence<br />

and a passion for entertaining. Each<br />

camper will receive their own magic kit<br />

with everything they need to wow their<br />

parents and friends.<br />

Drama<br />

Learn lead and supporting roles and all<br />

about set and costume design. Days<br />

are spent playing acting games and<br />

working together to prepare a live theatre<br />

production for family and friends in the<br />

auditorium on Friday.<br />

Circus<br />

Spend the week with Nick Miller<br />

learning all about how to become a<br />

circus performer. Learn the basics of<br />

juggling, diabolo and prop manipulation<br />

then test your balancing skills with rolo<br />

bolo, unicycling and walking on stilts.<br />

Become a polished theatre clown and<br />

show off your skills in the circus show<br />

Get an exclusive, up-close look at the<br />

life of a professional busker with Nick<br />

Miller, an international busking performer<br />

and award winning performer and<br />

teacher. Learn all about mastering the<br />

art of entertaining and captivating an<br />

audience while learning fundamental<br />

skills like juggling, magic, balancing,<br />

bucket drumming, and comedy,<br />

then take your skills to the street.<br />

You’ll spend two days at the Ottawa<br />

International Busker Festival practicing<br />

and performing at the circus tent, and<br />

enjoying a front row seat for some of the<br />

best professional entertainment acts.<br />

The Bluesfest School<br />

of Music & Art offers<br />

young artists a chance<br />

to learn directly<br />

from professionals<br />

and industry specialists. Campers<br />

will develop technical and musical<br />

skills; define their image and build<br />

confidence for their big performance.<br />

Each day starts and ends at<br />

<strong>Dovercourt</strong> while most lessons and<br />

activities take place at Festival House,<br />

just a short walk from the Centre. New<br />

in <strong>2017</strong>, each day will include at least<br />

five hours of specialized instruction!<br />

Ukulele Band<br />

9-13yrs $337<br />

Join up with some ukulele playing friends<br />

this summer at BSOMA. You and your<br />

new band mates will develop a set list<br />

of songs made famous by some of the<br />

headliners coming to the <strong>2017</strong> CityFolk.<br />

We will bring the band back together<br />

for a rehearsal in advance of your big<br />

performance at CityFolk in September.<br />

Mornings will be spent with our Ukulele<br />

Band coaches, and the afternoons will<br />

be spent creating digital media to play<br />

alongside your performances.<br />

Beats & Bass DJ<br />

12-16yrs $337<br />

Learn the ins and outs of DJ equipment,<br />

<strong>program</strong>s, beat-matching, mixing and<br />

the basics of scratching. Learn tricks of<br />

the trade like how to organize your music<br />

collection and how to market yourself for<br />

your first live gig. In addition to learning<br />

the DJ craft, campers will prepare digital<br />

media to play in conjunction with their<br />

sets at RBC Bluesfest in July.<br />

Rock University<br />

12-16yrs $337<br />

Local professional musicians will work<br />

with current and potential band mates to<br />

prepare for an on-stage performance at<br />

CityFolk in September. Young musicians<br />

will establish and define their style,<br />

refine their talent, build stage confidence<br />

and master 3-4 songs to perform. Band<br />

mates will reunite in early September<br />

for a dress rehearsal in advance of the<br />

big performance at the CityFolk. This<br />

summer, there will be more time dedicated<br />

to becoming a well-rounded musician<br />

with afternoon songwriting workshops,<br />

additional jam time, and vocal training.<br />

We will be accepting a limited number<br />

of guitarists, bass guitarists, pianists,<br />

drummers, and vocalists each week, each of<br />

whom must have the ability to play/sing 3<br />

songs fluently.<br />

RBC Bluesfest<br />

Rock University<br />

12-16yrs $337<br />

This special edition of Rock University<br />

takes place during RBC Bluesfest, and<br />

there will be exclusive opportunities for<br />

our participants. This unique opportunity<br />

offers current and potential band mates<br />

to work with local professional musicians<br />

to prepare for an on-stage performance<br />

at RBC Bluesfest. With more time<br />

dedicated to becoming a well-rounded<br />

musician, rehearsals will be balanced with<br />

songwriting workshops, extra jam time,<br />

and vocal training. We will be accepting a<br />

limited number of guitarists, bass guitarists,<br />

pianists, drummers, and vocalists each<br />

week, each of whom must have the ability to<br />

play/sing 3 songs fluently.<br />

Musical Theatre<br />

8-11yrs $337<br />

Be a triple threat on the stage! In this camp<br />

you will learn to sing, dance and act. In the<br />

morning, you will work with our Musical<br />

Theatre staff to develop skills and in the<br />

afternoons, you and your fellow campers<br />

will work on props, set design and creating<br />

the full experience for the audience. This<br />

course will end with a performance for<br />

friends and family on the BSOMA stage.<br />

BSOMA Singing Camp<br />

6-11yrs $337<br />

While fully engaged in popular songs,<br />

campers will develop technique, tone,<br />

harmonies and phrasing with one of<br />

BSOMA’s year round vocal coaches. Your<br />

grand performance will take place on the<br />

BSOMA stage on the Friday of camp, in<br />

front of friends and family.<br />
