Top-Ranked Alabama Stays Perfect, 51-3
Top-ranked Alabama put up 615 yards of total offense to stretch its winning
streak to 22 straight by a 51-3 fashion against Mississippi State. The rare 11 a.m.
Bryant-Denny Stadium kickoff saw the Bulldogs fall behind 30-0 at the half and
10-0 on the first two possessions. Nick Fitzgerald was sacked twice and held to
15 yards rushing and no touchdowns. Aeris Williams was MSU’s leading rusher
with 56 yards on 11 carries. Fred Ross broke the school career record for
receiving yards with his three catches for 23 yards. Westin Graves accounted
for the Bulldogs’ only points, drilling a 47-yarder on MSU’s first possession of
the second half. Fitzgerald found Donald Gray for two passes for 35 yards to
set up the field goal. DeAndre Ward, an Alabama native, was the game-leading
tackler with seven tackles, including a career-high 1.5 for loss. Jamoral Graham
recorded his second interception of the season, picking off Jalen Hurts midway
through the first quarter. MSU got inside the Alabama 40-yard line six times and
managed points only once on the Graves field goal.
