This is the first meeting between MSU and Miami (Ohio) in football ... This is the first time that<br />

the Bulldogs have faced a Mid-American Conference (MAC) opponent since defeating Bowling<br />

• Cowbells will be permitted in Tropicana Field. The tradition is also one the Tampa Rays have<br />

adopted over the years.<br />

• State currently has the SEC leader in rushing touchdowns (QB Nick Fitzgerald tied with 14)<br />

and receiving touchdowns (WR Fred Ross with 12).<br />

• Under Dan Mullen (since 2009), State is 54-4 when leading at the half and 55-2 when leading at<br />

the end of the third quarter.<br />

• Toughness: MSU recorded 126 offensive yards after contact in the 35-28 win over No. 4 Texas<br />

A&M on Nov. 5.<br />

• QB Nick Fitzgerald in the last five games has combined for 1,913 yards of total offense and 22<br />

touchdowns (averaging 382.6 yards per game last five games).<br />

• QB Nick Fitzgerald and WR Fred Ross have connected for 11 touchdowns this season. By<br />

comparsion Ross and Dak Prescott combined for nine touchdowns from 2014-15.<br />

• QB Nick Fitzgerald leads the SEC in 10+ yard plays from scrimmage (43). The next closest QB<br />

is Alabama’s Jalen Hurts with 30. Fred Ross leads all SEC wide receivers in 10+ yard plays from<br />

scrimmage (37).<br />

• MSU owns a +5 turnover margin on the year having gained 21 turnovers (eight fumbles, 13<br />

interceptions) and lost 16 (10 interceptions, six fumbles). The Bulldogs are 3-2 when winning<br />

the turnover battle this season (def. South Carolina, UMass and Ole Miss; lost at Kentucky,<br />

Alabama). MSU has lost the turnover battle only once this season (-1 vs. Auburn). State’s<br />

turnover margin ranks fourth in the SEC.<br />

• Three of MSU’s seven losses have been decided on the final play of the game - a missed field<br />
