2016 HIGHLIGHTS<br />
• Led the SEC with 3,530 yards of total offense during the regular season and<br />
finished tied for first with 14 rushing touchdowns.<br />
• Became the first SEC QB with three 300 passing / 100 rushing yard games in a<br />
season since Johnny Manziel in his Heisman-winning 2012 season. Fitzgerald’s<br />
most recent came against Arkansas (11/19), tossing for 328 yards, rushing for 131<br />
and totaling six touchdowns. Over his last six games, Fitzgerald has accounted for<br />
25 touchdowns and 2,101 total yards.<br />
• Set an MSU quarterback-record with 195 yards on the ground against South<br />
Carolina (9/10). Also added 178 yards through the air with two touchdowns.<br />
• Became the second quarterback in MSU history to pass for 300 yards and rush<br />
for 100 in a single game at UMass (9/24).<br />
• Against Samford (10/29), he became the second player in SEC history to record<br />
over 530 yards of total offense and seven touchdowns (Dak Prescott, 2015). He<br />
also became just the third player in SEC history to toss for 400 yards and rush<br />
for 100 in a single game (Archie Manning, 1969; Johnny Manziel, 2012). His<br />
536 total yards of offense were the second most in school history, the most by an<br />
SEC player this season and the seventh-highest in the history of the Southeastern<br />
Conference. His seven touchdowns accounted for tied the MSU and SEC record<br />
for most in a single game.<br />
• In the Bulldogs’ upset win against No. 4 Texas A&M (11/5), he became the third<br />
SEC signal caller in the past 20 years to pass for 200+ yards and rush for 175+,<br />
joining Heisman winners Johnny Manziel and Cam Newton. He earned SEC<br />
Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts.<br />
• Broke the MSU single-game rushing record by a player at any position with 258<br />
yards at Ole Miss (11/26). It was the highest rushing total by an FBS QB since<br />
2014. His 18.4 yards per carry against the Rebels was the second highest total<br />
by an SEC player in history (min 10 carries). Became just the fifth quarterback<br />
in SEC history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season. Fitzgerald’s 1,243<br />
yards thus far in 2016 are the third most by a signal caller in SEC history, just<br />
behind Heisman Trophy winners Johnny Manziel and Cam Newton. With 148<br />
yards, Fitzgerald can break the MSU single-season rushing record set by tailback<br />
Anthony Dixon in 2009 (1391 yards). Fitzgerald currently has 75 fewer carries.<br />
