MSU Dominates Ole Miss in Egg Bowl, 55-20<br />
MSU recorded its largest Egg Bowl victory since 1916 as quarterback Nick<br />
Fitzgerald accounted for 367 yards and five touchdowns in a 55-20 romp of Ole<br />
Miss in Oxford. Fitzgerald shattered the MSU single-game record for rushing<br />
yards, carrying 14 times for 258 yards and two touchdowns to break Anthony<br />
Dixon’s mark. Fitzgerald averaged a school-record 18.4 yards per carry, which<br />
was the highest by an SEC player in a conference game in league history. The<br />
Bulldogs produced a 200-yard rusher (Fitzgerald) and a 100-yard rusher (Aeris<br />
Williams) for the first time in school history. Williams scored two first-half<br />
touchdowns that put the Bulldogs up double-digits going into halftime. Jamal<br />
Peters delivered a clutch interception in the endzone to halt a potential touchdown<br />
drive in th second quarter. MSU outscored the Rebels, 28-0, in the second<br />
half. Fred Ross caught his only pass of the game and raced 38 yards for a score<br />
down the sideline. Fitzgerald then scored on runs of 61 and 30. Cedric Jiles put<br />
on the finishing touches when he intercepted Shea Patterson’s pass and returned<br />
it 74 yards for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Kivon Coman, in his final<br />
Egg Bowl, had a team-high eight tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Senior Johnathan<br />
Calvin registered 2.5 tackles for loss. The win was MSU’s first in Oxford<br />
since 2010 and the 60th for head coach Dan Mullen.<br />
