with him. “To whom much is given much is
expected. I have a great responsibility. My
decisions have the potential to affect life and
death - I don’t take that lightly.”
When it comes to his lighter side domesticity
takes the lead. When asked what his greatest
accomplishment is, his core softens and
he smiles, “Being a good husband and father.”
Chief deJesus’s wife Lourdes is the love
of his life and he uncharacteristically melts
a little when he mentions granddaughter
Daniela and daughter-in-law Karey. He also
has two sons firefighter Anthony and Alec
(who’s in high school).
If you’re wondering if the Chief has any
time for casual acquaintances or leisurely
lunches you probably know the answer. But
when the time allows (or the wind moves
him) he and Lourdes hop on their beloved
motorcycle and head to places like South
Dakota or Key West to attend biking events.
But rest assured Chief deJesus is a man
on a mission - one that seems to rival those
on CSI or the pages of Jason Bourne. “Everything
needs a plan and a focus. The staff has
to know I care for them and the organization
behind them. It’s about making the organization
great for all, it’s not about me. If we
don’t succeed I don’t succeed.”
Fear not.
