New Year New Look
While many a fitness magazine is focussing on getting
a ‘new you’ this New Year, we at Just Shutters like to
think people are perfect as they are! As such we are
helping to make those New Year uplifts to your home
instead, with 20% off our stunning Plantation Shutters.
Reinvigorate your rooms with some pre-spring
pampering. Here are some ideas of how our stunning
interior shutters can make a big difference to your
home, whatever the style of your windows and doors:
The Perfect Bay
Shutters are the perfect way to make a design impact
while retaining the character of a bay window. Shutters
maximise the light and enhance the features of a bay;
by avoiding heavy and cumbersome fabrics you will
open the room up and make it appear larger. Unlike
less substantial materials, shutters do not bleach or
fade in the sun, they are easy to maintain, and couple
practicality with style like no other product available.
Brilliant Bathrooms
Shutters are simply brilliant in humid environments,
where curtains may mildew and blinds may warp,
shutters offer a hardwearing and beautiful solution.
Shutters are perfect for shaped windows too!
Stunning study
Create the perfect study environment with the
versatility and light management that shutters provide.
Whether opting for full or partial light, shutters create
a private and inspiring place to live and work.
Fabulous French doors
Create a lovely snug feeling in the winter, or a light,
bright open look in the summer - bringing the outside
in! Another reason many people are opting for shutters
at their French doors is the feeling of security they
bring. Often exposed, rooms with large expanses of
glass can become a private sanctuary.
These are just some examples of how beautiful
Plantation Shutters can give your home a makeover
this New Year, for more inspirational hints, tips and a
gallery full of stunning images to capture your
imagination, please visit www.justshutters.co.uk or
call us on 01245 200917 and we will be delighted to
help you further.
or damaged by replacing
the panes – not the frames
has received the coveted
‘Which Trusted Trader’
status after going through
a rigorous accreditation
process entirely focussed
on customer service.
Group Managing
Director Marcus McGee
believes that Which? have
endorsed Cloudy2Clear’s
long standing company
policy of delivering the
highest standards possible
at all times. ‘Our service
is simple. If your double
glazing has misted up we
can replace the glass at a
fraction of the cost of a
new window, in any type
of frame, and with a new
25 year guarantee. But
it’s not just about saving
people money, although
that obviously helps. Whilst
a number of tradespeople
perhaps don’t focus on
customer care as much as
they should do, we make
sure we turn up when we
say we will, do the job the
customer requires and leave
their house as clean as a
whistle.
Locally Cloudy2Clear
service Billericay,

Hutton Mount, Ingatestone,
Ingrave & Herongate and
manager Chris Miller
agrees that this approach
is a major factor in his
success. ‘The truth is that
it’s not just the personal
satisfaction that I get from
doing a good job but also it
makes good business sense.
I get a huge amount of
business from friends and
family of people I’ve done
work for, which just goes
to show how much a little
bit of effort is appreciated
as both my customers
and, obviously a body as
nationally important as
Which? now recognise.’
So, if your windows are
steamed up, broken or
damaged give Chris a call
for a free quotation on
0800 61 21 118 and he’ll be
happy to help!
Planning your Wedding
or Honeymoon abroad
with The Travel Boutique
We are now in the most romantic months of
the year, with Christmas Day and New Years
Eve some of the most popular dates to get down
on one knee! Followed closely by Valentines Day
which is also just around the corner, I thought it
more than apt to talk about the romantic side of
travel, weddings and honeymoons.
Decisions of where to tie the knot and knowing
that you are embarking on the planning of one of
the most important days of your life your dream
wedding day and also your honeymoon can be
somewhat daunting.
Firstly if this applies to you Congratulations! Now
comes the fun part! You may have your heart set
on a favourite destination, or need inspiration and
advice as to what best will suit the two of you and
also if you have family and friends and particularly
children. With our destination wedding and
honeymoon team at The Travel Boutique this all
comes very naturally to us, not only that we are
romantics at heart but we have a wealth of
knowledge and experience organising and planning
weddings and honeymoons overseas. I myself
having lived in Greece & Cyprus for many years
have a huge understanding of what is required to
plan your wedding abroad. And more so that
planning a wedding abroad doesn’t mean that it
isn’t unique to you !
There are certain destinations where it’s much
easier to get married than others. This is usually
due to residency requirements. As a result, there
are many more couples each year that would like
to say ‘I do’ with the guaranteed warmth and
sunshine too.
So where are the best and easiest destinations to
marry, where the residency requirement is between
1 and 7 days and the paperwork is much more
simple than others, Greece, Cyprus, Mauritius,
Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Southern Africa, Bali, Thailand,
Caribbean, USA (New York, Las Vegas, Florida and
Hawaii), Canada, & Australia.
Whether you would like to tie the knot on an
exotic beach, have a religious ceremony or say I do
in a local vineyard we have many exciting
destinations and locations where we can tailormake
your day. Our specialist weddings and
honeymoon team are on hand to hold your hand
every step of the way, advise and guide you. We are
particularly good when looking at the Caribbean,
Greece, Cyprus, Italy and the Indian Ocean,
however we have personally attended and
arranged weddings in USA, Canada, Australia, India
and Asia too.
Or maybe you are having your wedding in the UK
and now thinking about your honeymoon - romantic
days lazing on a white sandy beach, balmy evenings
sipping champagne and cocktails or maybe
discovering new and wonderful destinations together,
just the two of you on a honeymoon tailored just for
you to places you have only dreamed. But that all
seems a little too much to begin planning alongside
all your wedding arrangements too. At The Travel
Boutique we are also on hand to help and take the
stresses out of planning your honeymoon dream and
getting it just right!
Whatever it is that you need when romance is in
the air, call us at The Travel Boutique and we will
help you plan every step of the way.
Call me directly on 01277 563193 or
Email weddings@thetravelboutique.co.uk
Planning your perfect wedding or honeymoon or
maybe that something very special is only just a
phone call away. We look forward to hearing from
you soon!
No more boring 9 to 5’s
From chocolate tasting to island caretaker
Ever catch yourself day dreaming at the desk
of your 9 to 5 job, wondering if there might be
an easier way to earn a crust? Well, we may of
found a few jobs that can make your day
dreams come true.
Professional sleeper
We all love our sleep and getting a few more
winks in before the alarm goes off is a real
challenge sometimes. But fear not, you can
actually pack your pijamas in your briefcase
and set off to work, safe in the knowledge that
you’ll soon be back in bed and getting paid for
it. Typically, professional sleepers participate in
university studies on sleep or dreams, but
others make sure beds are comfortable.
Beer tasters
For beer lovers, it truly doesn’t get any better
than this. A Beer Sommelier is a qualification
via the Institute of Brewing and Distilling. To
pass you have to know a lot about beer. They
help shape the brewing industry in a range of
ways from inspiring people to drink beer to
helping design new brews. Many breweries hire
technologists to check the quality of their drink
before it goes on sale. In order to thrive in this
job you have to have an adept palate – and
that doesn’t mean being able to sink six pints
on a Friday night.
White hat hacker
White hat hackers are usually seen as hackers
who use their skills to benefit society. They
may be reformed black hat hackers or they
may simply be well-versed in the methods and
techniques used by hackers. An organisation
can hire these consultants to do tests and
implement best practices that make them less
vulnerable to malicious hacking attempts in
56

the future. The term comes from old Western
movies where the cliché was for the ‘good guy’
to wear a white cowboy hat. Of course, the
‘bad guys’ always seemed
to wear a black hat.
Chocolate consultant
Although no formal
qualifications are required,
only a limited number of
people are blessed with an
acute sense of taste and
smell to do it. However, your chances may be
greater if you are young and female. According
to experts women tend to have a better sense
of taste and smell than men. Those under 35
are likely to have sharper senses than those
who are older, since sensitivities to taste tend
to decline with age.
Numerous professionals
work with the company
to create sets, build
models and create
amazing ‘sculptures’
they must work together as a team and to
tight deadlines. As you can imagine
competition for these jobs is fierce, with
estimates varying as to
exactly how many there
are in the world – from
nine to 30. The latest one
to get a job was 23-yearold
Andrew Johnson who
submitted a clever video,
then competed in a hard
core three-round build off,
allegedly fighting off 45 other competitors.
Island caretaker
Advertised as “officially the best job in the
world” in 2009 and involved working for the
Queensland Tourism Board. The role was a
newly created position designed to help
Micah Carr-Hill, Green & Black's Head of Taste,
said: "Despite 1 in 4 being born with the right
physiology to be a 'supertaster' I'm looking for
someone with a good nose too. A highly
developed sense of smell is just as important.
Lego sculptor
Fancy joining an elite team of builders that
work for Lego? Numerous professionals work
with the company to create sets, build models
and create amazing ‘sculptures’. Based in
Legoland Discovery Centres around the world
promote the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef
to the world. The winning candidate was
chosen from a shortlist of 11. His qualifications
were a good swimmer, excellent
communicator, an adventurous attitude, enjoy
snorkeling and/or diving and willing to try new
things. Ben Southall won the job, to live on an
island in the Great Barrier Reef for six months,
whilst filming and blogging about all the fun he
was having. Ben went onto become Global
Tourism Ambassador at Tourism Queensland.
Happy job hunting!
