Aspects of Writing Coding Sheets<br />
General Instructions<br />
Please fill in the sheets clearly using pencil. If you make a mistake you should be<br />
able to rub it out.<br />
In general:<br />
• double boxes require a count<br />
• single boxes with a small r above require a rating<br />
* The rating scales are given in the instructions that follow e.g.<br />
Rating scale for lexical sophistication:<br />
1. unsophisticated<br />
2. fairly sophisticated<br />
3. very sophisticated<br />
• and a set of small circles or squares should be filled or ticked.<br />
Use of paragraphs<br />
Logical order of paragraphs<br />
Appropriate use of paragraphs ● Is there a logical ordering of paragraphs?<br />
Paragraphing absent ● Yes<br />
Paragraphing overused ● ✓ No<br />

sentences contained within the text. Use an orange pen to place a<br />
vertical line between each grammatical sentence.<br />
*** All marking should be done on the actual (scanned) script. The typed<br />
