Board appoints Wangora as the CEO KenTrade Board of Directors appointed Mr. Amos S. Wangora as the KenTrade’s Chief Executive Officer with effect from October 1, 2016 for a period of 3 years. Mr. Wangora, had acted as Chief Executive Officer at KenTrade since March 30, 2015 following the exit of the late Mr. Alex Kabuga who was the founding CEO of KenTrade. Management staff congratulate the new CEO President Kenyatta Showcase Kenya’s Success with the TradeNet System Mr. Wangora holds a Masters degree in Maritime Affairs specializing in Port and Shipping Management from the World Maritime University (Sweden). He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (UK). He previously worked at the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA). President Kenyatta says operationalization of electronic Single Window System in Kenya has led to drastic reduction of time and cost of doing business across East Africa. He said the Kenya TradeNet System was among the Port reforms that has reduced average transit cargo clearance time by two days down from five. It also takes three days for good to transit from Mombasa to Kampala in Uganda, and four days to Kigali in Rwanda, down from 18 days and 20 days respectively. The President’s remarks were contained in a speech read on his behalf by the National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Mr. Henry Rotich who represented him at the official opening of Africa’s 2016 Ease of Doing Business Index (EDBI 2016) Conference held in May 2016 in Nairobi “Operationalization of the Single Window System in Kenya has led to significant reduction on time taken to process trade documents from an average of 21 days to 1 day and further reduction of the number of processes from an average of 10 steps. We expect further reductions in time and cost of clearance at the Ports and at the Borders as we complete roll out of the Single Window platform,” he said.
