Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade) is a State
Corporation established in 2011 under the National
Treasury to set-up, implement and manage the
National Electronic Single Window System (Kenya
TradeNet System) and to facilitate trade.

About KenTrade
international trade and transport logistics to lodge
documents electronically, for processing, approvals
and to make payments electronically for fees, levies,
duties and taxes due to the Government, on goods
imported or exported into and from the country. The
Kenya TradeNet System is integrated and interfaced
with Systems of stakeholders involved in international
trade to provide an end to end electronic solution to
trade logistics challenges.
The Kenya TradeNet System is one of Kenya’s Vision
2030 Flagship Projects under the Economic Pillar,
which seeks to help the country achieve a sustainable
economic growth of 10% per annum.
Single Window System is recognized by United Nations
(UN CEFACT recommendation Number 33) and the
World Trade organization (WTO) Trade Facilitation
Agreement (TFA) as one of the key concepts in trade
facilitation.
KenTrade’s functions;
• Implement, in consultation with the Minister
for Finance, policies relating to the National
Electronic Single Window System;
• Integrate electronic systems of public and private
entities involved in receipting, processing and
approving documents relating to international
trade transactions;
• Develop, manage, and promote interchange of
electronic data for facilitation of trade;
• Undertake and coordinate research and surveys in
electronic commerce aimed at simplifying and
harmonizing trade documentations;
• Maintain an electronic database of all imported
and exported goods and services and the levies,
fees, duties and taxes charged on imported or
exported goods and services;
• Collect trade statistics;
• Plan, develop, monitor and evaluate training
programs for all stakeholders to ensure
conformity with international best practices;
• Perform such other functions related to trade
facilitation and other such duties as the Minister
may, from time to time, assign to the Agency.
