Kenya <strong>Trad</strong>e <strong>Net</strong>work Agency (Ken<strong>Trad</strong>e) is a State<br />
Corporation established in 2011 under the National<br />
Treasury to set-up, implement and manage the<br />
National Electronic Single Window System (Kenya<br />
<strong>Trad</strong>e<strong>Net</strong> System) and to facilitate trade.<br />
Kenya <strong>Trad</strong>e<strong>Net</strong> System is an online platform that<br />
serves as a single entry point for parties involved in<br />

About Ken<strong>Trad</strong>e<br />
international trade and transport logistics to lodge<br />
documents electronically, for processing, approvals<br />
and to make payments electronically for fees, levies,<br />
duties and taxes due to the Government, on goods<br />
imported or exported into and from the country. The<br />
Kenya <strong>Trad</strong>e<strong>Net</strong> System is integrated and interfaced<br />
with Systems of stakeholders involved in international<br />
trade to provide an end to end electronic solution to<br />
trade logistics challenges.<br />
The Kenya <strong>Trad</strong>e<strong>Net</strong> System is one of Kenya’s Vision<br />
2030 Flagship Projects under the Economic Pillar,<br />
which seeks to help the country achieve a sustainable<br />
economic growth of 10% per annum.<br />
Single Window System is recognized by United Nations<br />
(UN CEFACT recommendation Number 33) and the<br />
World <strong>Trad</strong>e organization (WTO) <strong>Trad</strong>e Facilitation<br />
Agreement (TFA) as one of the key concepts in trade<br />
facilitation.<br />
Ken<strong>Trad</strong>e’s functions;<br />
• Implement, in consultation with the Minister<br />
for Finance, policies relating to the National<br />
Electronic Single Window System;<br />
• Integrate electronic systems of public and private<br />
entities involved in receipting, processing and<br />
approving documents relating to international<br />
trade transactions;<br />
• Develop, manage, and promote interchange of<br />
electronic data for facilitation of trade;<br />
• Undertake and coordinate research and surveys in<br />
electronic commerce aimed at simplifying and<br />
harmonizing trade documentations;<br />
• Maintain an electronic database of all imported<br />
and exported goods and services and the levies,<br />
fees, duties and taxes charged on imported or<br />
exported goods and services;<br />
• Collect trade statistics;<br />
• Plan, develop, monitor and evaluate training<br />
programs for all stakeholders to ensure<br />
conformity with international best practices;<br />
• Perform such other functions related to trade<br />
facilitation and other such duties as the Minister<br />
may, from time to time, assign to the Agency.<br />
