Innovation has been incorporated in Micro’s DNA since its founding in 1997. It is the driver of
value creation for our customers as well as for us as a team and company. In the following
article we would like to introduce you to the philosophy behind our constant thriving for
innovation. Following Simon Sineks ‘golden circle’ principle, we will first lay out WHY we
think innovation is key; secondly, we will introduce you to HOW we develop and innovate, and
thirdly, we’ll bring better into focus WHAT exactly we do.
HOW do we innovate ? WHAT do we innovate ?
Led by visionary founder Wim Ouboter, our
Swiss head office is the fountainhead for
all new product ideas. Thanks to close ties
to a group of users and enthusiasts as well
as through extensive, iterative market research,
we quickly develop market insight and
ensure a fast time-to-market. A team of
Swiss engineers and designers work closely
together in the prototyping and testing phase.
High value is put on the seamless integration
of the latest top-quality components into
an aesthetic product design which can only
happen with well-qualified and especially
motivated staff. Early on already, the technical
team in our China office was integrated in
the process to ensure a smooth and rapid
transition to the manufacturing stage.
This past year we came up with amazing new
features in our emicro product range.
First of all, there is our new two-way twist
throttle. It lets you accelerate by turning
towards you and brake when turning away
from you. This is a concept that has been used
only in electric motorbikes by BMW so far, and
is a global novelty in the area of light electric
scooters. We believe it is a big improvement
that makes riding easier and more efficient.
Secondly, we have equipped our e-scooters
with a frontwheel brake to be activated with a
brake lever on the handlebar. On the one
hand this reduces the braking distance
significantly leading to a much safer ride.
On the other hand, our new X3 models are
street-approved in Switzerland, having conformity
with the Swiss e-bike regulation.
Thirdly, our new high capacity battery on the
Micro Condor provides sufficient power to
enable rides of up to 20 kilometer distance in
the concrete jungle. You don’t need to be
afraid of not enough autonomy to cover all
your daily journeys with one charge on the
Micro Condor X3.
WHY do we innovate ?
Micro’s purpose is to make urban mobility
easier and more enjoyable and convenient
for everyone. The urban jungle is our home
and we use all means necessary to make it
a more livable eco-system. We question the
status quo of urban transportation to find
solutions to turn your everyday city travels
from a necessary evil into enjoyable quality
time.
