Welton Library
What do a member of royalty, a music
icon, a football manager and several
government ministers have in common?
The answer is: you will find them all in
Welton library!
Welton NEWS
I currently volunteer in our local library
which many of you will know re-opened
last year after a period of uncertainty due
to the reduction in funding by Lincolnshire
County Council. Numbers through the
door have increased steadily but we always
welcome new members. With that in mind
it struck me that an article in the Welton
NEWS might further increase interest in
this valuable community facility which the
parish council now oversees with the help
of a band of volunteers such as myself.
Let’s start by looking at the non-fiction
section and in particular biographies and
autobiographies that form part of this
range. Looking on the shelves at the moment
we have a wide range to choose from and
it is interesting to take a random look to
see the diversity of who sits next to who.
We have ‘Elizabeth; Renaissance Prince’
by Lisa Hilton who I found sitting between
‘Bob Dylan; Chronicles Volume One’ and
‘Sven-Goran Erikson; My Story’. So we
have a biography that challenges readers
to reassess Elizabeth I’s reign of drama,
scandal and intrigue, next to the chronicles
