UNSUNG HEROES
Help us discover our district's unsung heroes
To mark the incredible dedication of volunteers within our district,
Braintree District Council, in partnership with Braintree District Voluntary
Support Agency (BDVSA), have launched a brand new awards scheme
'The Braintree District Volunteers Awards'.
Nominations are now open for residents and groups to celebrate the
good that goes on in our communities. The awards are made up of six
categories all designed to celebrate the effort of volunteers who make
contributions to their community.
Nominating is easy – it can be done easily online:
www.braintree.gov.uk/VolunteersAwards. Or you can call 01376 552525 to
receive a paper version.
The award categories are:
Young Volunteer Award
Long Service Award
Inspirational Role Model of the Year Award
Going the Extra Mile Award
Fundraiser of the Year Award
Volunteer Group of the Year Award
Cllr Peter Tattersley, Cabinet Member for Health and Communities,
said: “We wanted to find a way – along with the BDVSA - to say thank
you as a community to those who dedicate their time, skills and care day
in and day out . We want residents to live well in healthy and resilient
communities where residents feel supported and we can't do that without
our unsung heroes who work quietly behind the scenes improving
people's quality of life without seeking reward.”
Rachel Fahie, CEO of BDVSA said “By supporting local groups and
charities, I know the great depth of goodwill and community spirit shown
by many people throughout the whole of the Braintree District. With these
new awards, we want to recognise their outstanding contributions to the
community.”

Nominations close on 1 March, with judging taking place during March.
Award winners will be invited to a civic reception with the Chairman of the
Council in April 2017.
