Friends Groups – Press Release<br />
Libraries are wonderful community spaces that offer a huge range of<br />
services to meet the needs of their communities, but we want to do<br />
more. Friends Groups are a way for people to support their local<br />
libraries and let us know what they want for their community, giving<br />
us the opportunity to make libraries even more amazing.<br />
By joining a Friends Group people will be able to;<br />

Meet others who have a passion for their local library.<br />
Offer their library feedback and suggestions about how best<br />
to meet community needs.<br />
Be ambassadors for their library – raising their profile at local<br />
meetings and events.<br />
Friends groups are much like a PTA (Parent Teacher Association),<br />
there to assist with enabling libraries to offer additional resources<br />
and improved services to their local communities, while forging new<br />
links within them.<br />
We are starting to develop Friends Groups in two of our smaller<br />
libraries, Sible Hedingham and West Mersea, with a view to creating<br />
more across the County.<br />
