Sophiiiie!<br />

Sophie is pregnant, but doesn’t know who the child’s father is. In the night before<br />

her abortion appointment, she steals her boyfriend’s motorcycle and races through<br />

town with suicidal intention. After surviving that, to her surprise, she steps on the gas<br />

even more: straight as an arrow and with the impact of a falling rock, desperately<br />

Michael Hofmann was born in 1961. He<br />

worked as a designer and director for the<br />

LINTAS ad agency from 1988-1990 before<br />

becoming a freelance writer and director in<br />

1991. He received a grant to attend the Munich<br />

Script Workshop in 1994 and made his feature<br />

film debut in 1998 with Der Strand von<br />

Trouville after directing several shorts and<br />

penning a number of screenplays. His other<br />

<strong>films</strong> include: Kleine Fische (short, 1988),<br />

Dinge wie diese (short, 1991), The Tale<br />

of the Girl and the Bear (short, 1992),<br />
