That's a lot of people to handle in a one day's shoot and the Club is praying they get that long promised bulldozer to enlarge the firing points to make 104 on the 50 and 104 on the 25 yard lines. Then the whole darned army can come out to the matches and will be handled con mucho mucho. Colonel Rouge again took away the top aggregate prize followed by another army shooter, Nelson Lincoln, from the SF Presidio, who placed 2nd in the aggregate match. The third open winner was Braithwaite and as you might know he was from the armed forces. It's quite refreshing to see new names heading the lists all which keeps up the old spirit—and makes the boys buckle down if they want to stay in the top spots. USE REVOLVERS I have been noticing lately that many of the shooters in the .45 match are using revolvers and also in the .22 matches I see many revolvers. There could be a good story someplace there about that but for the nonce it escapes me. The Sacramento matches opened last month on the 3rd Sundays of the month thru October so will have to get up there some Sunday and give my guns the heat treatment—and I don't mean from the powder either. The last match I shot there I thought the sun was gonna melt the gun barrel but I won 45 cents and that made up for the heat. Jim Spang, just retired from the Navy and claims he hadn't pulled a trigger in six years, arrived on the lot with new shooting equipment and anxiously awaited his first match. I noted his first string and didn't have the heart to follow the rest of his shooting for the day. I hope Jim wasn't so discouraged he didn't toss his gun kit over the side of the bridge on the way home. - If you know how to plan your driving so you're always in the proper lane for turning or for moving straight ahead, you have learned an important part of good driving, says the California State Automobile Association.
