The “green wine” route leads you through centuries of history
and tradition.
Days 1 & 2, Porto – Celorico de Basto: On arrival at Porto Airport,
pick up your pre-reserved car-rental and drive to Celorico de Basto, a
picturesque village, 88 km away. Check-in at Casa de Canedo, a 17th
century country manor house for a 2-night stay. Explore the town and
its historic Castles of Celorico and Árnóias, two strategic defensive
points during the Middle Age. (2B)
Days 3 & 4, Celorico de Basto – Guimarães: An hour’s drive will bring
you to Guimarães, regarded as the birth place of Portugal. Check-in at
Casa de Sezim, a magnificent house that has belonged to the same
family since 1376 and boasts a simple yet elegant and exquisite
interior. Its vineyards produce an award-winning Vinho Verde. Explore
Guimarães’ extensive history in the variety of national monuments and
historic buildings found in the city. (2B)
Day 5, 6 & 7, Guimarães – Ponte de Lima: Drive 56 km Northwest to
Ponte de Lima and check-in at Casa do Berreiro for your 3-night stay.
Built in 1652, this house with timeless elegance has had agriculture and
viniculture as its dominant activities for centuries. A rich farming region
where the famous Vinho Verde is produced, Ponte de Lima enjoys
numerous festivities that you can join in if you happen to be there at the
right time! (2B)
Day 8, Departure: Drive back to Porto Airport where you return your
car-rental.

Days 1 & 2, Lisbon – Peniche: Arrive at Lisbon Airport, pick up your
pre-reserved car rental and drive a distance of 90 km to Peniche, the
largest traditional fishing port in Portugal. Check-in at Casa do Castelo,
a discreet 17th century manor house with lovely gardens and only seven
double-occupancy bedrooms with en-suite facilities. Explore surrounding
cultural and natural heritage and discover interesting handicrafts and
traditional Portuguese cuisine. (2B)
Days 3, 4 & 5, Peniche – Condeixa: Located 130 km northeast,
Condeixa is known for its ancient Roman settlement and the historical
museum. Check-in at Paco da Ega, a 16th century medieval castle built
atop a hill offering panoramic views. An opportunity to explore nearby
Coimbra, home to a fantastic collection of churches, monasteries, lively
cultural institutions, shops, boutiques, and an appetizing choice of cafés

Day 6 & 7, Condexia – São Pedro do Sul: Driving northward, reach
Sao Pedro do Sul in 90 minutes and check-in at Casa do Condado de
Beirós, an 18th century manor house with lush gardens. Once the
southern border of the Kingdom of Portugal, the town’s history goes
back to the Roman times. Explore ancient Roman Baths and Spa. Just a
few kilometres away is the city of Viseu, with its vast architectural
heritage. (2B)
