Mitsui Seiki describes its ‘Ultimate Mother
Machine’ being able to realise jig borer levels
of positional accuracy within +/- 1 micron
with the ability to contour with ultra-high
accuracy due to the introduction of MAMS
(Mitsui Accurate Milling Support) thermal
monitoring system. The ‘Mother Machine’
term is widely used in Japan to describe an
‘ultra-high accuracy’ machine tool with the
capability to produce critical features on
further machine tools that have high
accuracy potential.
Available through 2D CNC Machinery
based in Hinckley, the Mitsui Seiki PJ812
vertical spindle precision profiling centre has
been developed to accommodate higher
precision machining demands such as those
required in machine tool and quality
equipment, aerospace and defence, medical,
optical and specific mould and die
applications.
Here, the combined advantage of high
static rigidity, some six times greater than a
conventional vertical machining centre, has
been built into the 3-axis machine frame with
the absolute benefit of thermal growth and
deflection control that is greater by some 30
per cent over previous ‘incorporated’
production machine technologies.
MAMS is a multi-sensor based thermal
growth monitoring system able to minimise
the influence of temperature changes on
workpiece accuracy and cut temperature
generated displacement by up to 60 per cent.
This system is also able to control the thermal
growth and deflection in the Z-axis by some
30 per cent compared with previous
generation technologies employed.
Further contributing to higher accuracy
‘Mother Machine’ capability is a planer-style
symmetric construction with hardened and
ground steel slideways and special contact
elements to enhance acceleration. Mitsui
Seiki’s latest development of a ‘sliding
mechanism’ that is able to reduce ‘stick-slip’
helps achieve an accuracy of 0.1 micron for
axis feed. The PJ812 also has centralised
coolant system for its ballscrews to stabilise
the precision of axis feeds, slideway
lubrication and other critical surfaces. As a
result, heat deformation is reduced and the
distance between the Z-axis drive and the
spindle is minimised.
Aberlink - Xtreme meAsures
Aberlink staff will be demonstrating the
company’s recently launched Xtreme CNC
Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) on
stand H55, at the forthcoming Advanced
Manufacturing Exhibition. The unique CMM
was designed with a novel non-Cartesian
structure and uses advanced linear motors
and precise mechanical bearings. This
advantageous configuration ensures that the
CMM maintains its accuracy at very fast
measurement rates and does not suffer from
the accumulative inaccuracies that occur in
conventional 3-axis Cartesian arrangements.
As its name implies, the cost effective Xtreme
CMM offers customers a robust solution for
undertaking precise inspection routines
wherever they are required.
Too prove its versatile nature and ability
to quickly swap between tactile and noncontact
measuring routines, Aberlink’s bestselling
Axiom Too CMM will be used to
illustrate the latest, MK IV Aberlink vision
software. Aberlink 3D CNC Inspection
software now enables the extremely accurate,
rapid scanning of features and profiles. The
Mk IV software version delivers enhanced
functionality and boasts an improved CAD
Comparison module and the easiest to use
‘off-line Programming from CAD’ software
module currently available.
With Spring in the air, Nederman is giving
industry a chance to clear the air and the
workshop with its irresistible Spring
promotion. The seasonal offer from the
world leader in industrial filtration includes
huge discounts on its FilterBox 10A fume and
dust extraction unit, the Suction Blaster
SB750 dust free sandblasting system and the
ever popular 216E industrial vacuum
cleaner.
The best-selling FilterBox 10A is a mobile
or fixed unit for 'at-source' dust and fume
extraction. Ideal for welding, fabrication and
other workshop dust or fume applications,
the FilterBox 10A is equipped with automatic
compressed air cleaning and a signal
indicates when it is time to clean or change
the filter cartridges. The FilterBox has
multiple fan options for different
applications and can be supplied without an
extraction arm for connection to extract
ductwork.
Also in the Spring promotional offer is the
portable Suction Blaster SB750. This
innovative mobile blasting system provides a
dust-free abrasive sandblasting solution that
will guarantee a cleaner and healthier work
environment. Unlike many alternative
systems, the groundbreaking Suction Blaster
SB750 recycles the blast material numerous
times to reduce operational costs and
provides a mobile economically viable option
for companies regularly conducting blasting
operations. Mounted on wheels with a 230V
power supply and an overall weight of just
14kg, the SB750 with a powerful 1000W
motor is efficient, cost effective and
extremely easy to use.
Also avalable is the FilterBox or the
Suction Blaster then you will undoubtedly
need to buy the Nederman 216E Dry
Vacuum. This extremely powerful industrial
dust collector has a rugged and robust design
for the most demanding shop-floor
environments. Suitable for the collection of
dry and hazardous materials, the 216E has
cyclonic pre-separation and the filter system
is enhanced with a cartridge that is separated
by a protective plate.
