Temecula Valley Hospital to Break Ground on
First Floor Expansion Project
Temecula Valley Hospital will break
ground in April on the hospital’s first
expansion project since its opening in
October 2013. The expansion project is
a 29,000 square foot addition to the first
floor on the east side of the hospital. This
project will allow TVH to expand cardiovascular
and stroke services while advancing
the capabilities of these programs.
The first floor expansion project
includes two catheterization (cath) labs,
seven post-anesthesia care unit (PACU)
bays, seven pre/post-operative care bays,
a neuro biplane room, an endovascular
hybrid operating room, a new CT scanner
and a community room for educational
presentations and events. These additions
will help TVH better meet the needs of the
growing community and allow the hospital
to bring advanced care to residents.
By adding two additional cath labs,
TVH will be able to increase the number
of cardiac cases that are performed. Currently,
the hospital is performing nearly
double the national average of cases
typically performed in only one cath lab.
The neuro biplane room will support
TVH’s efforts to become a Joint Commission
accredited Comprehensive Stroke
Center (CSC). Achieving CSC designation
will help the hospital become an
advanced multidisciplinary neuroscience
center in the region.
The hybrid operating room will be
equipped with a large fixed imaging
system and will support high-quality
interventional imaging. It will allow
physicians to perform procedures using
real-time image guidance and assess
effectiveness while managing perioperative
complications. Development of an
endovascular hybrid operating room will
allow TVH to establish a high-quality,
integrated heart and vascular program.
The strength and collaboration within the
hospital’s medical staff provides a strong
foundation for building this program.
“We are excited about the opportunities
that this expansion will provide to
the hospital,” said Darlene Wetton, Chief
Executive Officer, Temecula Valley Hospital.
“This expansion will allow TVH to
better meet the needs of the community
as well as help the hospital develop programs
that will enhance the outcomes of
our patients.”
The Importance of a Makeover
Healthy
Living
by
Tina Monique M. Gottlieb, deGroot D.C.
If you have ever changed your hairstyle
or purchased a new outfit you know
it can be a huge confidence booster. You
probably noticed how the people around
you commented on how great you look
or asked what was different about you.
There is no denying that there is a direct
connection between how you feel and
how you look. A makeover can be a
physical and emotional transformation.
Makeovers actually help many people
overcome difficult situations or life
changing moments.
For many people, they don’t see outside
their normal everyday routine. They
hate how their foundation looks but they
don’t get help finding a new one. They’re
upset that their mascara runs or that their
lipstick doesn’t stay on but they won’t
look for new formulas. It is imperative
that you take the time to broaden your
beauty horizon. A lot of people don’t
know where to start which is a why a
makeover with a professional is the most
time and cost effective way to start making
changes. Putting yourself in the hands
of a professional can help you choose
the right products and the right colors
for your beauty arsenal. Getting expert
advice with your color scheme will help
take years off; selecting the wrong colors
can actually do the opposite.
Never take the power of a new hair
style or hair extensions for granted. It
can help give you the confidence, make
you look younger, and help land the job
or make a great first impression on a
first date. If the idea of maintaining hair
extensions isn’t up your alley there are
other options. We just started carrying
Halo Hair Pieces that take 2 minutes to
put on and instantly you have longer,
fuller natural looking hair.
I encourage you to book a makeover
today! At Murrieta Day Spa we are
having an exclusive Makeover Night
on April 27th, 2017 with personalized
consultations for our clients. If you are
unable to attend, we book makeovers at
any time on a normal business day. Or if
you’re not local, find a spa/salon close
to you that will help give you the boost
you’re looking for. You’ll be happy you
did it!
Type 2 Diabetes
What Is Type 2 Diabetes?
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition
that affects the way your body
metabolizes sugar (glucose), your body’s
important source of fuel.
With Type 2 diabetes, your body
either resists the effects of insulin — a
hormone that regulates the movement of
sugar into your cells — or doesn’t produce
enough insulin to maintain a normal
glucose level. Very often, people with
type 2 diabetes will have no symptoms.
Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes:
• Increased thirst
• Increased hunger (especially after
eating)
• Dry mouth
• Nausea and sometimes vomiting
• Increased urination
• Fatigue (weak, tired feeling)
• Blurred vision
• Numbness/tingling of the hands/ feet
• Frequent infections of the skin, urinary
tract, or vagina
• Sores that are slow to heal
Your blood sugar can rise or fall for many
reasons including:
• Eating too much or too little
• Taking or missing your medicine
by Dr. Dennis Petersen
• Being more active
• Getting sick
Diabetes cannot be cured, but your
treatment plan can help keep your blood
sugar on track and prevent complications.
You’ll need insulin if your pancreas cannot
make it or make enough. You cannot
take insulin by mouth because normal
digestion interferes with how it works.
You have to inject it with a syringe and
needle, pen or pump. There are fast and
long-acting options. Your physician will
recommend the best type for you.
Physical activity is another key part
of your diabetes care plan. When you’re
adding physical activity to your routine,
it’s okay to take your time. If you haven’t
been active, start with 5 to 10 minutes
a day and increase your activity a few
minutes each week until you reach your
goals. Your doctor can help you create
a physical activity plan that’s right for
you and help make sure your plan is safe.
