THE HUFFINGTON POST
tarted by Huffington
in 2005, news outlet,
content aggregator, and
blog The Huffington Post
is currently listed amongst
the most popular 100
sites on the Internet. In
2012 it was named as
the most popular political
site by eBizMBA Rank,
with over 110,000,000
monthly visitors. The
Huffington Post has been
a tremendous force of
change in the news, both
in the way it’s reported
and the way we consume it. The site boasts 9,000 bloggers,
many of whom are high-profile personalities, including
President Barack Obama, who penned an Op Ed in June
2014 touting the needs of a family-friendly workplace.
Huffington has repeatedly
taken on the big guns in
the media industry, and
repeatedly come out on top,
with The Huffington Post now
receiving more web traffic
than the New York Times. The
online publication was the first
digital media enterprise to win
a Pulitzer Prize — generally
considered journalism’s
highest honour — in 2012,
less than a decade after the
news site was launched.
Huffington has since sold it to
AOL for $315 million.
