New-home sales up
despite rise in rates

Americans responded to higher mortgage
rates by snapping up new homes at
the fastest pace since July 2016, reports the
U.S. Commerce Department. New-home
sales rose 6.1 percent month-over-month.
That pace is nearly 13 percent higher than
February of last year, a positive sign for the
housing market that demand is robust at
the start of the spring home-buying season.
Some buyers may look to lock-in their
purchases, concerned that mortgage rates
will rise – action, sooner rather than later
– which could further stimulate the market.
Here’s what’s new in new homes:
March for Babies playhouse on display
in Fischer & Frichtel communities

Dimes’ 2017 March for Babies–St. Louis,
which takes place April 29 in Forest Park,

a “Dream Playhouse.”
The playhouse is “on tour” for viewing
in various Fischer communities and will
be raffled off to the public. Tickets may
be purchased online through May 1 at $5
per ticket or five tickets for $20, with all
proceeds going to the March of Dimes.
The playhouse will be on display in The
Manors of Provence in St. Charles from
April 6-12; in the Reserve at Brook Hill,
also in St. Charles, from April 13-28; and
at the “March for Babies” site in Forest
Park on April 29.
The winning raffle ticket will be drawn
and announced at Fischer & Frichtel’s
corporate headquarters on May 2. For
