Institute Sponsors Boys and
Girls Clubs of Ontario
The Institute’s Director of Career Information, Mona Ghiami (right), presents
a cheque for $30,000 to Boys and Girls Clubs of Ontario’s Regional Director
Sandra Morris.
For the 14th consecutive year, the Institute was the sponsor
of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ontario Scholarship Awards
Ceremony. The Scholarship luncheon, which was held on
September 27, honoured 62 young people from across the
province.
In addition to sponsoring the event, the Institute also
awarded scholarships to 14 deserving young people. The
scholarships are dedicated to helping young people
achieve post-secondary education.
Recipients are all long-time Club members as well as youth
volunteers who show leadership in their communities.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario
Scholarship recipients were: April Stevenson from
Algonquin College; Aziza Barra, Ibrahim Ahmed and Mahdi
Hussein from Ryerson University; Basel Esmail and Hassan
Abdillahi from the University of Ottawa; Cayla Curtis from
George Brown College; Francesca Albanese from the
University of Toronto; Hetal Lad from York University; Jada
Dorrington from Bishop’s University; Khalid Rashidi from
Seneca College; Renee Wilkinson from Centennial College;
Samantha Hua from the University of Ontario Institute of
Technology; and Tremaine Garrison from Sheridan College.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Ontario Scholarship Program
has grown significantly since its inception in 1992, and
increasing numbers of young people in Ontario have
benefited from its awards. The Boys and Girls Clubs are
committed to helping youth achieve individual growth by
developing their personal abilities and cultivating positive
values.
