Pixels is a platform for the budding directors and movie producers of College to<br />

screen their short films to a larger audience.<br />

College was issued a license to host the TEDx<strong>SJC</strong> Bangalore, which was<br />

eventually held on 6 th January, 2017.<br />

The English Department has organized a festival of literature titled META since<br />

2013 which has brought prominent authors, scholars, intellectuals, theatre-persons<br />

and poets to share their insights about the writing process, to conduct workshops, hold<br />

book readings and to participate in panel discussions.<br />

The English Department has also collaborated with the NGO Headstreams since<br />

2014 to hold Tackle Fest—a unique experiment which brings hundreds of students<br />

from government schools to College where they tour the labs, attend lecturedemonstrations,<br />

and examine exhibits in science and arts put up by student volunteers<br />

from the institution. This is done to spark curiosity about higher learning.<br />

Language festivals are organized by the French, German, Kannada, Hindi and<br />

Tamil departments where eminent and budding authors, journalists and educationists<br />

are invited for book reviews, book readings, panel discussions and debates on current<br />

affairs.<br />

The undergraduate Communications Department has organized a media fest titled<br />

Allura since <strong>2012</strong> which draws participation on account of its varied extra-curricular<br />

activities from both students of media courses and other degree courses across the<br />

city. The department also partners with the Bangalore International Film Festival<br />

(BIFFES) and encourages its students to volunteer at BIFFES every year.<br />

An Intra- and Intercollegiate Science and Arts exhibition (Singularitas) is open to<br />

the public and organized by students under the guidance of teachers.<br />

Intra-College exhibitions in creative skills, hobbies, philately and numismatics for<br />

students and teachers are held every year.<br />

This is just a small sampling of the many extra-curricular activities on campus. Given<br />

in Tables 5.9 and 5.10 below is a representative listing of some of the unique cultural<br />

activities of the last few years.<br />
