The PTO at Warren Elementary in<br />
Francis Howell spent a year raising<br />
nearly $35,000 for Google Chromebook<br />
carts. Google Chromebooks<br />
are needed for state-mandated<br />
online tests.<br />
“We have had such an overwhelming<br />
response by parents, teachers<br />
and students acknowledging their<br />
gratefulness for this purchase,” said<br />
PTO president Katie Bange. “One<br />
class even wrote a thank you letter<br />
signed by all of the students.”<br />
The principals originally asked<br />
for 60 devices and two carts but the<br />
PTO approved the purchase of four carts<br />
and 120 Chromebooks.<br />
“We felt it was important to increase the<br />
technology students at Warren have access<br />
to on a day-to-day basis, to prepare them to<br />
be 21st century learners,” Bange said.<br />

The Francis Howell School District presented<br />
its 20<strong>17</strong> Howell of Fame Awards on<br />
May 1 to outstanding volunteers, staff and<br />
district retirees. Additionally, the annual<br />
awards ceremony served as a celebration<br />
of the district’s Teacher of the Year, Support<br />
