UNIV’S PHILANTHROPY SURVEY<br />

Univ’s Development Board (UCDB*) has completed its independent analysis of the 2016 Philanthropy Survey. Warm thanks to<br />

those of you who responded, for your time and thoughtful remarks, and you should each by now have received your copy of the<br />

summary report.<br />

The prize draw winner was Sophie Yarde-Buller (1993, Art) who wins two bottles of College wine (which she has very kindly<br />

donated back to the College’s Christmas raffle!)<br />

The anonymised feedback has been shared with the Master and senior Fellows and is helping to shape the thinking on future<br />

development activity.<br />

The study team is now inviting alumni who would like to take part in further stages of the research to join a review panel, which<br />

will have access to extended survey feedback, conduct its discussions through an online forum, and help to develop the initiatives<br />

to be taken forward. If you wish to take part, please email us at philanthropystudy@univ.ox.ac.uk<br />

“I think there is a challenge for the College in getting<br />

its communications right without overwhelming<br />

recipients. There is a value in the College Record type of<br />

communication, but it is less important to me than clear<br />

statements of strategy and intent… I think the College can<br />

do more to share the impact evaluations it must have.”<br />

“We need hard information about the challenges which the<br />

College currently faces. Because our commitment is genuine, it<br />

needs ‘real world’ info, not just nostalgic memories.”<br />

“I was motivated by enabling Univ to widen access. I have<br />

sufficient confidence in the College to spend the money<br />

wisely that I do not think gifts need to be restricted.”<br />

“My only criticism is that there are lots of different goals and<br />

no main one which can be confusing - sometimes appears<br />

from the outside to lack coherence.”<br />
