We were delighted to welcome our Old Members to reunions and College celebrations this autumn and winter. We would like<br />
to thank everyone who hosted and supported these events, and to all those who attended and helped to make them such a<br />

THE MARTLET ENSEMBLE<br />
CANDLELIT CONCERT<br />
All members of the College were invited<br />
to a candlelit concert by The <strong>Martlet</strong><br />
Ensemble on 22 November in College<br />
Chapel. The programme of Bach Advent<br />
and Christmas Cantatas included Nun<br />
komm der Heiden Heiland (BWV 62), Sie<br />
werden aus Saba (BWV 65) and Wachet<br />
auf (BWV 140), with special guest soloists:<br />
Augusta Hebbert, Soprano, Guy Cutting,<br />
Tenor and Johnny Herford, Baritone. The<br />
<strong>Martlet</strong> Ensemble was led by Caroline<br />
Balding and Univ Chapel Choir were<br />
directed by Giles Underwood.<br />
ADVENT CAROL SERVICE<br />
Old Members, Fellows, students and their families gathered for a celebration of<br />
Advent by candlelight in Univ Chapel on 3 December 2016, followed by mince pies<br />
and mulled wine in Hall.<br />
YOUNG UNIV BREWERY TOUR<br />
Members of Young Univ were invited<br />
to join us for a tour of CRATE Brewery<br />
in London on 27 October. The event<br />
was a great success. It was a relaxed and<br />
informal evening which was well attended<br />
by Old Members from across the Young<br />
Univ cohort.<br />
ANNUAL SEMINAR<br />
Old Members and their guests were invited to join us for the 12th Univ Annual Seminar and Buffet Supper on 24 November at The Royal Society,<br />
London. Guest panellists, including Lord Butler (1957, Classics), Prof. Dr Julian Lindley-French (1976, History), Gilly Lord (1992, Maths), Prof. Anand<br />
Menon (1984, History and Modern Languages) and Prof. Marc Stears, discussed ‘How can the Government meet the challenges of Brexit?’<br />
