people in the general society are ignorant of the Neterian culture and have been inculcated with<br />

orthodox western religious beliefs or western secular ideals. Therefore, it is very unlikely for a<br />

person practicing Neterian spirituality, especially at the level of the priesthood, to be married to<br />

someone who is of a different faith or philosophy and to develop a relationship that can promote<br />

peace and prosperity and the service of Neter. It is even less likely to work out a relationship<br />

between a person who practices Neterianism or some other mystical religion and a person who<br />

practices or believes in orthodox religion. Further, the unprecedented level of social psychosis,<br />

and frustration has generally reduced the pool of reasonably well-integrated human beings even<br />

by worldly standards of normalcy. Therefore, sexual and marital as well as close business<br />

relationships and partnerships with members of other traditions that are not compatible with the<br />

Neterian culture are to be discouraged.<br />

The Neterian marriage is an agreement made by two individuals to come together to make a<br />

home and produce a family. However, for priests and priestesses the discipline is different than<br />

that of the masses. The higher purpose of spiritual living is to grow in patience, forbearance,<br />

nonviolence, self-control, detachment, and cosmic love, love beyond family, community and<br />

country.<br />

Priests and priestesses may be married or unmarried. If they are married they must practice<br />

ritual cleansing before entering the temple if they have engaged in sexual intercourse. So<br />

whether married or not the discipline of celibacy is to be observed by all who work as priests and<br />

priestesses. Celibacy allows the energy of the sexual encounter to be dissipated and the<br />

personality will be able to apply itself to the worship of the Divine. Also, realize that in ancient<br />

times there was not the pressure to have sex, which is so prevalent in modern culture. Therefore,<br />

an aspirant needs to control the sensory input of the world, avoiding company with those who are<br />

lewd, vulgar or of degraded culture as well as those forms of entertainment that promote<br />

lewdness, profanity and vulgarity.<br />

The ideal of marriage in Neterian culture is not the same as the modern culture. Partners are<br />

not forced to stay together if they do not want to be married nor are they forced or coerced to<br />

marry in a temple. They unite by choice and they can separate by choice. Also, unions are not<br />

arranged by the parents. However their relationship is not based on externalities such as sex or<br />

unnatural pleasure-seeking. Those things will always lead to frustration and eventual divorce<br />

because a mind that is in a relationship for pleasure only, seeking externalities such as sex-appeal<br />

and good looks will be constantly engaged in adulterous thought processes that will eventually<br />

compel the mind to act impulsively and promiscuously with the senses, and eventually with the<br />

genitals. Marriage is to be based on Maat, righteousness. Any relation that is based on truth will<br />

be fruitful and will lead to the evolution of all concerned. In such a relationship there is a greater<br />

capacity to grow and a greater capacity for forgiveness and selflessness. So if a Neterian follower<br />

wishes to marry in order to experience the householder life they may do so but that should not<br />

interfere with the work at the temple and the practice of control of the sex urge. Due to economic<br />

reasons and other social strife reasons it is more difficult in the present day to have the<br />

householder-priesthood lifestyle. If a conflict would be there and a choice is to be made between<br />

the two the aspirant should reflect on what is most important to them and follow that.<br />
