Applying for a Kenyan driver’s license<br />
<strong>Expatriates</strong> driving in Kenya must be in possession<br />
of the correct paperwork.<br />
International driving permits or a license from<br />
another Commonwealth country can be used for<br />
up to three months. Thereafter, <strong>Expatriates</strong><br />
should contact the Automobile Association of<br />
Kenya (AA Kenya) to find out the requirements to<br />
exchange their foreign license for a Kenyan<br />
driver’s permit.<br />
Hiring a car in Nairobi<br />
Before you hire a car, ensure you are engaging with<br />
a reputable company, preferably one referred or<br />
recommended to you. Read the rental contract<br />
carefully to check for rules on insurance liabilities in<br />
case of an accident or the theft of the vehicle.<br />
Local car hire firms in Nairobi often operate on a<br />
cash-in-advance basis.<br />
