are starting to plan upcoming vacations. <strong>Summer</strong> is finally here, and<br />

with a multitude of fun events waiting to be explored, it is time to enjoy<br />

what the southwest suburbs have to offer. Since now is the time to get out<br />

and soak up the sun, what follows is a list of the Top 25 events happening<br />

in the area this summer.<br />

1. Woofstock<br />

and Pet Parade<br />

runners and walkers during<br />

younger can participate<br />

in the children’s beginning<br />

9:15 a.m. Distances and<br />

heats for the children’s<br />

dashes are to vary by<br />

age. All participants in<br />

the children’s dashes will<br />

receive a ribbon/prize.<br />

Preregister by 5 p.m. on<br />

Thursday, June 1, to receive<br />

$5 off the normal<br />

registration fee. Day-of<br />

registration costs $25<br />

and runs from 7:30-8:25<br />

a.m. in the Willowview<br />

Park parking lot. The<br />

participation fee is $5 for<br />

4. Kid’s Fishing Derby<br />

Rain or shine, the New<br />

Lenox Park District is<br />

to host a fishing derby<br />

at 8:30 a.m. Saturday,<br />

June 3 in Hibernia Park,<br />

1664 Eagle Circle, New<br />

Lenox. Children will<br />

fish for plenty of prizes.<br />

Winners are to be determined<br />

in three different<br />

age categories, from ages<br />

2-6, 7-11 and 12-16. Bait<br />

will also be available onsite<br />

for purchase, as well<br />

as food and drinks from<br />

the concession stand. The<br />

derby begins at 9:30 a.m.,<br />

and winners will be announced<br />

at 11 a.m. Bringing<br />

bathing suits to enjoy<br />

the park’s splash pad is<br />
