Odyssey Fun World offers a onestop

shop for summer activities

Odyssey Fun World in Tinley

Park is a one-stop shop for summer

fun. With a variety of attractions

for all ages, the whole family

is sure to have a blast.

For fun in the sun, Odyssey offers

a beautiful 11-acre outdoor

park with two go-kart tracks, two

18-hole mini-golf courses — one

of which is handicapped accessible

— bumper boats, hydro racers,

batting cages, a concessions

stand and an inflatable Kidz Park.

It even has a 30-foot-high zip line.

If the sun refuses to shine, Odyssey

boasts a 44,000-square-foot

interior with more than 200 arcade,

redemption and merchandiser

games, along with laser tag,

a four-story children’s soft playland,

an eight-station Gamer’s

Lounge (Xbox One and PS4),

a roller coaster, a ferris wheel,

bumper cars and a full-service

café with one of the best pizzas in

town.

Odyssey has an extreme adventure

wristband that can be

used to access all the attractions,

both indoors and outdoors, and

get a $5 game card. The price of

this package will be $29.99 on

weekends, $24.99 on weekdays

and holiday weekends (Memorial

Day, Fourth of July and Labor

Day), and $21.99 on Mondays.

Odyssey Fun World wants to

keep the summer fun rolling all

summer long and is having a variety

of fun entertainers on location

this summer to make sure

of it. Every Friday of June, July

and August, Odyssey will host

a Summertime Movie on the

Green event, featuring films such

as “Frozen,” “Minions,” “Star

Wars: The Force Awakens,” and

“Peanuts!” Dave Rudolf will host

a beach party jam session in the

outdoor park that will entertain

children and adults. Southpaw, the

Southside Baseball Mascot will

be on-site, with other sports team

mascots in the works.

Odyssey Fun World is the place

to be this summer. Everything

has a bright and fresh appearance

indoors and outdoors, and a

lot of work has been done to this

place. Now, attendees can all reap

the benefits of all the hard work.

Odyssey Fun World is open seven

days a week from June 1-Labor

Day, 10 a.m – 10 p.m. Monday-

Thursday, 10 a.m.-midnight Friday–Saturday,

Full steam ahead at St. Mary

Catholic School in Mokena

St. Mary Catholic School

in Mokena provides a nurturing

environment where faith,

education, and moral values

are promoted and reinforced.

In order to further this mission,

the school will be undergoing

a renovation this summer

to create a new three-year- old

preschool classroom and contemporary

STEAM (science,

technology, engineering, art,

mathematics) classroom.

STEAM is a unique approach

to enhance student learning and

understanding of how all things

relate to each other, in school

and in life. It emphasizes the integration

of the arts and offers

more creativity to students in

the learning process. STEAM

allows educators to become

more of a facilitator, while students

are given greater choice

and learning becomes about the

process instead of the product.

“We are blessed to be able

to build this new classroom

that will allow for the integration

of the arts with science,

technology, engineering, and

mathematics,” states Beth Cunningham,

Principal, St. Mary

Catholic School. “We believe

that by integrating our fine arts

program into our existing science,

technology, engineering

and mathematics (STEM) curriculum,

we will create an even

stronger learning environment

for our students.”

St. Mary’s teachers always

strive to engage students while

making learning fun! With the

addition of the STEAM room,

St. Mary students will begin using

TAB (Teaching for Artistic

Behavior) art theory, working in

centers where they may choose

to create the art that excites
