BE PART OF THE GREATEST SHOW IN TOWN
Everyone from individual artistes
and events organisers to volunteers,
community groups and schools are
invited to help make Lincoln’s Great
Magna Carta Weekend unforgettable!
On June 15 1215, at Runnymede, Magna Carta
was sealed by King John and the Barons and, to
mark the 800th Anniversary of this significant
historical event, Lincoln BIG and its partners are
pulling together two days of festivals and fun
– for the weekend of June 13 and 14.
Lots of planning and hard work is going on
behind the scenes to get this show on the
road, but we know that the more people and
organisations who get behind it, the more
successful it will be.
Highlights include a Night of Festivals, featuring
a colourful carnival; the launch of the Lincoln
Magna Carta Charter Barons’ Trail of 25 Baron
sculptures; live music, festival fun and fireworks
on the Brayford Waterfront and the University of
Lincoln campus; a Magna Party at Lincoln Castle;
Medieval storytelling on Steep Hill and Radiating
Signals – a procession of community flags.
There are lots of ways for businesses,
organisations and individuals to get involved,
so we are urging you to put on your thinking
caps and let us have your ideas and pledges of
support – which we will include in publicity in
the run-up to the weekend.
