Lincoln Drill Hall is a great
place to introduce children
to the arts - and get them
involved and creating too!
The venue’s Summer
programme features live
shows, workshops and creative
sessions specifically aimed at
younger audiences – from tiny
tots to teenagers – plus events
the whole family can enjoy
together.
The Drill Hall is known for its
high quality children’s theatre,
and this Summer two more
acclaimed companies pay a
visit. Action Transport Theatre
lead the way with ‘Statik’
on Wednesday 27 May, an
intelligent, imaginative and
often bonkers clowning show
set in a radio factory. Inspired
by conversations with school
children, it’s all about being
yourself, no matter what, and
is aimed at ages 5-11.
Bamboozle Theatre also return
to The Drill Hall with their
new production ‘Along the
Riverbank’ on Saturday 30
May, a magical puppet-based
performance, inspired by The
Wind in the Willows, that’s
guaranteed to thrill young
families and which specifically
engages children with learning
disabilities.
The venue’s regular ‘Diddy
Disco’ continues to rock the
dance floor on Thursday 28th
May & Thursday 23rd July.
Bring your toddlers along to
strut their stuff at the funkiest
disco party for under 7s
around!
At the end of July, the Drill
Hall’s ‘Fishtank Summer
Schools’ offer kids a great
chance to develop drama and
comedy skills. Working with
Alice and Steph, budding
writers, directors and actors
can ‘Make A Play In Two
Days’, while the ‘Comedy
Workshop’ allows kids in tune
with their funny bones to
work on comedy characters,
sketches and stand up.
Finally, in July and August,
the Drill Hall in association
with Lincoln Castle present
three productions in the
castle grounds by open-air
theatre company Illyria,
including ‘The Sorcerer’s
Apprentice’.
Bring along your picnics and
all the family for enchanting
evenings of theatre as the
sun sets.
