Thinking of starting
a business?
Is now a good time to be starting
your own business in Evesham
and Vale? A new course is being
run in Evesham to help people
looking to start their own
business. Germinate Enterprise is
a local scheme aimed at helping
people explore whether the
idea that people have for a new
business might work. The 6 week
course, starting in June, is led by
Chris Sheehan and Sarah Hewitt
who have many years of running
and mentoring businesses.
Course leader, Chris Sheehan
said: “With all the talk of Brexit
and what lies ahead, it might
seem starting your own business
in such uncertain times may
not be the best idea. However
change means there could be
new opportunities for a new
local product or service that
you might be the best person to
offer.”
Participants on the course
work through a simple to use
workbook exploring their idea,
looking at whether there is
a market for it and how the
finances might work out.
The course has been set up by
Germinate, a Christian charity
which helps Churches support
their local community. CEO,
Jerry Marshall said: “After a
year we have found that 60%
of businesses are supporting
the business owner and their
families”.
The business idea could be
a social enterprise like a
community café or farmshop or
a business taking your hobby or
previous experience to create a
new market.
The six week course will be held
at a local Evesham farm shop and
run from 6.30 to 8.30pm for 6
weeks in June and July and cost
just £30 to cover the workbook
and refreshments.
