Monroe County Historical Association
The Monroe County Historical Association is pleased to announce a
free presentation on the history of the cannons at Courthouse Square
in downtown Stroudsburg on Wednesday, May 24th, at 7:00 p.m. at
the Stroud Mansion, 900 Main Street, Stroudsburg. Presented by Jim
Werkheiser who, for years, wondered why Monroe County was the only
county in the entire Union with no monument or recognition of the Civil
War. Through in-depth research, Jim was able to uncover the history
behind the cannons.
The presentation is free, but due to limited space, reservations are
required by Friday, May 19th. Light refreshments will be served. The
presentation will be held on the 2nd floor of the Stroud Mansion which
is not handicapped accessible. For additional information or to make a
reservation, please contact the Monroe County Historical Association
office at (570) 421-7703 or email at info@monroehistorical.org.
